Central Market is the best place to witness Malaysian culture, art and craft. A variety of goods are sold here, including handicrafts, souvenirs and art, all at reasonable prices. Amid the stalls selling an array of souvenirs are small outlets where Malaysian artists display their works. Visitors may even have their portrait painted or order custom-made handicrafts. Craft Museum is located within the Craft Cultural Complex on Jalan Conlay, the attraction of this museum are the dioramas, detailed scenes showing the traditional process of making pottery, intricate wood carving, silver-smithing, weaving cloth or pandanas leaves, stamping batik patterns on cloth and boat making. In the Craft Cultural Complex, you can buy the traditional handicrafts and they are often cheaper here than elsewhere in the country.
Lake Gardens dates back to the 1880s and is the city's most favoured park. Built around a man-made lake, it encompasses 91.6 hectares of undulating greenery and various parks. Within the Lake Gardens are Butterfly Park, Deer Park and other places of interest. There is a playground and boat rental facilities for cruising around the lake. Deer Park is located next to the bubbling stream at the edge of the valley where several mouse-deer roam. The Butterfly Park houses some 6,000 live butterflies of over 120 species within their natural habitat. Fun for the entire family!

Masjid Jamek, Kuala Lumpur's oldest mosque, sits right at the point where two rivers, the Kelang and Gombak rivers meet. This is the very spot where KL’s history began; where the early tin mining settlers first built their shacks. The mosque’s ornate Moorish architecture and palm trees on the banks of the Klang and Gombak rivers provide a tranquil setting that complements the mosque’s exquisite domed tower. National Planetarium is one of KL’s coolest attractions. The planetarium offers visitors an insight into mankind's new frontier, outer space. The National Zoo and Aquarium was once set in virgin jungle, but now stands like an oasis amidst a concrete jungle. The zoo features about 400 species of Malaysian and exotic mammals, reptiles and birds. There are numerous paths meandering between wooded groves and tree-lined enclaves where the animal enclosures are located. Among the more exotic exhibits are the Sumatran tiger, orang-utans and gibbons. The aquarium has 80 species of marine and fresh-water life.
