Genting Highlands Theme Park is a popular resort in the cool highlands just an hour away from Kuala Lumpur.  Lake Gardens dates back to the 1880s and is the city's most favoured park. Built around a man-made lake, it encompasses 91.6 hectares of undulating greenery and various parks.  The National Zoo and Aquarium was once set in virgin jungle, but now stands like an oasis amidst a concrete jungle. As to handicrafts, KL is probably the best place to buy these products though the range of Malaysian handicrafts is not extensive, coming mainly in the form of kites, pewter ware and pottery.
