English

Malaysia is one of the fast-growing economies collectively known as the ‘Asian Dragons’. Located in Southeast Asia, it consists of two geographical regions divided by the South China Sea. The Malay peninsular (or West Malaysia) shares a border with Thailand in the north and Singapore in the south, while East Malaysia occupies the northern part of the island of Borneo, including the states of Sarawak and Sabah.
Genting Highlands
Over 18 million people visit the mountain peak of Genting Highlands every year, home to a famous mountain resort that can be reached by car from Kuala Lumpur in about one hour. The resort is also accessible by the world's fastest cable car, Genting Skyway. The area is surrounded by beautiful forest and offers a cool respite from the hot and sultry lowlands. The resort includes an indoor and outdoor theme park with a multitude of rides that are suitable for the whole family. Other facilities include a sky diving simulator, shopping malls, bowling centre, archery and a cinema. In addition, the Awana horse ranch offers equestrian activities including lessons for beginners, as well as rides for children.
Thaipusam: this Hindu festival sees devotees pierce their bodies with hooks, skewers and pins. The participants meditate and enter a trance-like state, which supposedly frees their minds and ensures they don't feel any pain. The festival takes place in Kuala Lumpur and follows a route from Sri Mahamariaman Temple in Chinatown to one of the country’s most famous religious sites, the Batu Caves. Drummers, dancers and supporters add to the lively atmosphere.
Cameron Highlands
Malaysia's mountains and jungles are ideal for those who don't like the beach, and there is nowhere better than the Cameron Highlands. The towns of Tanah Rata, Ringlet and Brinchang provide top quality hotels and amenities for both local and foreign visitors. At 6773ft, Gunung Brinchang is the highest inhabited point on the Malay peninsular and provides some stunning views.
Over 35 international airlines fly to Malaysia, making it easy to get here. There are six international airports, one each at: Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Penang, Langkawi, Kuching, and Johor Bahru. A further 14 domestic airports serve the growing number of regional budget airlines.
