| " I want to take my family to the Asterix theme park near Paris. Can you recommend a good hotel and advise on transport? "

We can recommend many hotels in Paris with
easy access to Gare du Nord train station that allows you to reach the parc
within 35 minutes. They include the
Scribe Paris Hotel, the
Quality
Hotel Pulitzer Opera, or the
Ambassador Hotel Paris. Check out our
Hotel Information link below for more choices. As for
transport, by car,
travelling north from Paris on the A1 Paris-Lille Highway, take the Parc
Astérix exit between exits N°7 and N°8, about 30 km from the city. If
travelling by plane from out of town, the parc is situated about ten minutes
from Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle Airport. By TGV train, bus and underground,
plan arrival at the Roissy-Charles-de-Gualle Airport and use the direct bus link
to the parc, which departs every thirty minutes until park closing time.

As a World
Heritage site, the Angkor Wat vicinity enjoys complete protection as an
international treasure. Most all the hotels nearby reside along Charles de
Gualle Avenue, in Siem Reap, about 4 kilometres away.
The closest
one to the Angkor Wat is the Le Meridien Hotel. If what you're craving is
getting as authentic an experience as you can, the Angkor Village Resort
features buildings of traditional khmer architecture, nestled amongst tropical
ponds and gardens.

| What is the best way to travel from Curitiba in Brazil to Amazon forest area?
|
|
| What is the best way to travel from Curitiba in Brazil to Amazon forest area? |
| Jake, USA |
|
|
There are a couple of ways to travel from
Curitiba to the Amazon forest. One on the best modes of transport and the least expensive is the bus. Brazilian people love to travel by bus around the
country. Buses offer direct connections from all major cities, including Curitiba, and can transport you right into the heart of the
Amazon jungle.
Transport by train is possible; however, a good number of trains in
Brazil are under service, so
you should already know before you arrive which train line you will be travelling on. The Curitiba-Paranaguá line is one of the best.
Car hire is also possible but is not advisable unless you are with a guide that knows exactly what he is doing. Roads in
Brazil can be hazardous, especially at night.
Do yourself a
favour and catch the bus.

Are there any hotels near the beach in Croatia that are affordable?
|
|
| I read an article in your Tangent Magazine about Croatia. It sounded fascinating and my wife and I can't wait to go. It also sounds expensive. Are there any hotels near the beach that are affordable? And also, are there any activities for a couple on a budget? |

| If you are planning on staying in
Dubrovnik, there are a few moderately priced quality accommodations to choose from.
The Lero Hotel is a little off the main path but still in close proximity to the beach. This three star hotel is comfortable and priced for the budget traveller.
The Argosy Hotel is extremely affordable and close to the beach. This hotel offers fantastic views and comfortable rooms.
The Dubrovnik Palace Hotel is situated directly along the shore and offers every modern comfort and convenience. The Palace is
a bit more expensive, but the location can't be beat.

is an absolutely stunning destination with literally hundreds
of things to do to fill your travel days. Here are a few suggestions:
You can take a day trip to the island of Seenu. This is the 'second city' of the
Maldives. Or you may want to
spend a few hours on Nilandhoo Island where you can see the Aasaari Miskiiy, the second oldest mosque in the Maldives.
While visiting
Maldives, you should go and see the island of the Laamu Atoll. It has one of the most impressive ruins to be found anywhere in the Maldives.
For a day outdoors you may want to visit the Male’ Fish Market. This is the main commercial area of Male’ is located on the northern waterfront. This area is the main hub of trade and is a hive of activity through out the day. The waterfront and the by-lanes in the area are crowded with shops stocked with a variety of goods. You can also find a number of restaurants throughout the area offering some of the freshest seafood imaginable.
For fantastic shopping opportunities you may want to visit Singapore Bazaar, a wide selection of stores selling quality local handicrafts and an assortment of Maldivian and imported tourist souvenirs. Also interesting are the shops selling home hardware, marine equipment, fishing gear and general merchandise for local villages. In the many small teahouses Maldivian’s enjoy snack meals, and socialising.
On the islands of the
Maldives the most important religious event is Ramadan (known locally as rorda mas), the Islamic month of fasting. Since you will be arriving on 27 December, you will have an opportunity to observe this event.
