During our stay of 3 nights and 3 days at the Metropole Hotel, only the first night did we had cable tv. Construction was going on at the adjacent room with drilling and hammering noises. Only the people at the front desk spoke English. The rest communicate in Chinese.

One thing I really like about this hotel is the location. It's just 3mins walk to Senado Square and Solmar Restaurant is right opposite the hotel. Plus, there is a free shuttle bus at the ferry terminal which will bring you to the hotel. However, the frequency of this bus is every 30mins, which I think should be improved. And the bus should stop its passengers right at the door step of the hotel. I had a rude shock when I was told to get down the bus with all my luggage opposite the hotel instead. And the driver was not very friendly. The waiting area outside my room, specifically near the lift smells bad and old. They should change the carpet and lighting to brighten up the place. But I must mentioned that the room itself is clean and spacious. Maybe it's time they change some of the furnitures though. One important note is they should have more seating area at the lobby. Currently there is only one sofa (3 seater) at the lobby. Overall the staffs are friendly and helpful. I'll only recommend this hotel to budget travellers.

What I liked most was the hotel's proximity to Macau's major tourist attractions like the senado square, specialty bakeries, st paul church ruins, st dominic church. Its accessible to the free shuttle being offered by other hotels. The least I liked was the food. We tried the breakfast buffet and we weren't happy with the food choices. Staff members in the reception area were less accommodating maybe due to their limitation in speaking English. Can't enjoy watching the tv because you have to shell out extra money to access cable channels. But if you're just an average traveller who would not look for special amenities and contented with just the basics, Metropole is acceptable. The room is clean, not noisy, towels & beddings are clean. Other than that, no more.

The hotel is very near to Senado Square & Monte Fort, but a bit far from Casino (About 15min walk). We can get public transport easily and the hotel provide shuttle bus to ferry terminal is a big plus for us.

Location is good. Near Senado Square (5minute walk) where every visitor should visit at least once. Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. Hotel may wish to consider refurbishing some of the furniture in the room like the wardrobe which has a mouldy smell.

Guy frontliners are more helpful and approachable, unlike the ladies, who are hard up in communicating themselves, they are not even aware of the schedule of MT1 or MT2, worst, they are not familiar where Red Market is. Ray is very conversant and helpful, he knew the place and he makes my itineraries easier. Thanks to Metropole. I will highly recommend this to my friends who will visit Macau in the near future. And of course I will have Metropole as my A-1 in my list of Hotels, Aside from its strategic location, it is also very affordable and it is worth the money I paid. thanks

the location can't be beat. it's better than all the others touted as being "close to everything". they have a free shuttle to the ferry station. the staff was great and they do speak english. just speak slowly, or bring a map and point to where you want to go. it would also help a lot, in general in macau, if one spoke chinese. although the hotel is a bit rundown, i would recommend it. bathroom was good.

This hotel is nothing to brag about or to be indicated to a friend. It is average. But the personnel is not honest. I gave one hundred dollar deposit for the safe and one hundred for security . Checking out if I did not mention my one hundred for safe deposit, Miss melina (front desk) kept quiet. The hundred dollar for security they did not return. I was told it was charged to check my credit? I insisted a little bit on my hundred but as it was better going away immediately without it than having an argument. So I just left. But it was not an honest thing to do. I was a rip off

Very good location - one minute walk to the Senado but the room was in bad shape. It was too dark, too small and had an awful musky smell similar to cigarette smoke. When we checked out the next day to return to Hong Kong, the clothes that we had on, acquired the smell of the room. Sorry, but I can't say that i'll stay here again. The hotel accepted reservations for three adults and one child but the room size was good only for two skinny people. The front desk personnel hardly smiled but at least they could understand and speak a little English. While i was checking in, they kept on exchanging stories with one another - unmindful of the waiting customer....very bad manners. It's probably because of the lighting....it was way too dark to see if the room was clean. I opened the curtains and saw a wall in front of the window - how's that for a view! Very close to the city center - walking distance to the Senado and the shops. I wasn't able to use the shuttle because the next trip would mean a wait of 30 minutes. If the primary consideration is location, yes i would recommend it. However, if the consideration is being able to comfortably rest after a long day of sightseeing, then i won't recommend it. For the few hours that a guest would actually use the room, he would want to be able to sleep soundly without smelling like the room when he leaves. Awful!

The location is very much accessible to the tourist spots like Senado Square and Macau Tower, even convenience store is just nearby. I can just easily walk going there and to other places. However, I specified a double bed in my reservation but when I arrived I was given a twin bed instead due to unavailability of the room. Front desk people are friendly yet its hard to converse with them because most of them do not speak English. Overall, I still enjoyed my stay at Metropole. I'll definitely still stay here when I go back to Macau. I was surprised that Hoteltravel.com was able to accomodate my reservations and with a better rate compared to other sites offered.

The hotell accomodated my request for 4 adjacent rooms which other hotels do not easily provide. Room is good value for the price we paid. Location is excellent as it is within walking distance from places of interest like Ruins of St Paul and Senando Square as well as Macau Tower which hosted the Macau Food Festival which serves us well for our short one day stay in Macau. The hotel also provides free shuttle service to and from the Ferry terminal although not as often as other bigger hotels. It is also near to some fast food restaurants and eating shops and banking areas. We will definitely select Metropole Hotel if we ever travel to Macau again.

Value for money and strategic location! Strongly recommended to others budget traveller! The hotel just upgraded their facilities, new bed, new carpet and new bathroom. The hotel is located corner of Senado Square (less than 5 minutes walking distance) and not far away (5 minutes walking distance as well) from Lisboa Casinos and Wynns Casino. There is a 24hrs McDonald's Restaurant around the corner (next to China Bank) and the Central Post Office is within the distance. The hotel do provide shuttle bus (every hour) from Jetty to hotel but you need to look for it because there are many other Casino buses, hence you might not aware of it or missed it. However, taxi fare from Jetty to the hotel is around MOP20 and from Airport to hotel is around MOP60.

1) Poor attitude from receptionist. She informed that we could request for extra pillows but refused to help us call the room service to arrange for it. Insisted we call them ourselves. 2)Gave us the wrong number to call. 3)Told room service we wanted two extra pillows, the guy exclaimed"TWO pillows?" as if it was some tall order. 3)Unmistakenable stale smell in the room and along the corridors of the hotel 4)Bar fridge was locked in a mini-cupboard! 5)No bible in the creepy room. When I requested for one, the receptionist said they were no christians, therefore was not hotel policy to place one in every room. 6)Container that was supposed to be filled with instant coffee and stuff was empty; in their place was some gooey stuff that looked like snort or/and saliva.

The hotel is located very close to the centre. Apart from that - there is nothing positive I can say about that hotel that will be remembered by my by: lots of noise from nearby contruction going on till midnight, hotel without any kind of first aid kit!!!, breakfast represented in form of some awful food... Room is value for money (newly renovated but the hotel still show the old photos b4 renovation in their lift), it is near to Senado Square (shopping paradise), bus stop, ferry terminal. They don't provide foam bath, just provide soap bar. If you are particular about it, bring your own or get it at the convenien store nearby. I will recommend to my friends or anyone who wish to book a hotel a Macau by themselves. It is a 'real' 3 star hotel, at lease it is same as Malaysian standard. Better than Hong Kong and Taiwan.

In the morning, we heard shouts on the corridors. We did not know what was happening, and so, we called the front desk, hoping to speak to somebody who can speak English. Unfortunately, nobody can speak English. We were not able to find out what the cause of the shouting was outside our room. In addition, since the hotel was being renovated, there were the usual construction noises, and the hotel was not as clean as it was supposed to be, starting with the front door.

The location is very good.. the hotel is 3 star.. but when i go in the lobby, and see the room.. I give this hotel 1 star or 2 star. The Hotel Facilities is very old. and when i book this hotel, i want a non smoking room, but they give me smoking room, i want double bed they give me twin bed. After i complain they only give me smoking room and double bed. I dont like smoking room but they say double bed all smoking room. If i knew early i wont book this hotel. I wont be back to this hotel again. Many hotel better than this hotel and location also very near.

I stayed in this hotel for 5 days..the room was not that big but sufficient enough for two persons...but the bed was not comfortable to sleep on and the rest room has a "not so nice" smell..the aircondition of the room was good. the hotel in general in clean but it think since the hotel is undergoing renovations when i stayed there, there are other things that the hotel compromises...like the smell in the restroom...i think they have a problem with the drainage...when i arrived there, the refrigirator in the room i was assigned to stay was not in order and when i informed the manager, they immidiately fixed it in less than an hour..the manager & the recepcionist in the lobby knows how to speak in english so i have no difficulty conversing with them...the housekeeping, although not good in english, knows the basics and undertand me well.. all in all, if your looking for a place to stay with a small budget, Metropole Hotel will be ok.

I chose this hotel because of its excellent location which was important for my short stay, though i remembered from my previous stay that it was an old facility in need of renovation. This time i was surprised to find a clean, renovated room on the 7th floor, so my stay was much better than before. i'd probably stay there again. it's location that still matters.

Has a very good location. Staff should highlight to tourists places which are near the hotel. Eg the St. Pauls Ruins and also the Macau tower which are of walking distance from the hotel.

The hotel is great. It is worth the 3-star hotel rating. I would come back there for sure. It is in the center of everything else. There was a free shuttle provided going to the Macau Ferry Terminal. The price we paid was worth it for a 3-star hotel like Metropole Macau.

Convenient only within 5 - 10 minutes walk to food outlets, shops, public transport etc. Unfortunately, it can be quite noisy due to the closing of the room door.

Very good location, just 3 minute walk to Senado Square. Accessible to bus stop and its easy to find a taxi. Room and bathroom is clean, i think the bathroom is newly renovated. The bed is a little hard and there's only one pillow per bed. Lobby is quite small and though i didn't dine in the restaurant, i don't like the interior design. The staff are okay and professional. With the price i got from hotel travel, i'd recommend this to any budget conscious traveller who still wants quality accomodation.

Very nice hotel...centrally located and very near San Ma Lo. Room is clean and bigger than in most 3star hotels...but don't get extra bed because you'll be lying in a folding bed with thin mattress. Staff are friendly and very helpful...though have very limited English. A good money's worth. I will stay here again next time!

Sorry, but I should choose another one, I should pay more and get something with nice bed ( I choose on the internet King Size Bed and I got regular bed, also the room have bad smell, the bath tube was obstructed, anyway the only thing that I liked was the pillow!! For my niece, her boyfriend and my daughter, they stayed in another room and was the same thing. Anyway, was my choice, even in the internet everything is nice, I felt injured and next time I'll try to choose good hotel.

The hotel was generally ok. The staff are friendly, the rooms were clean and the air conditioner worked. For the price I would have expected better.
