The Lane Xang Hotel is in a good location across the road from the Mekong and a short walk to restaurants (Riverside restaurant directly opposite is a great place to eat and watch the Mekong sunset), banks, ATM, pubs etc. Like a lot of hotels in Vientiane it's seen better days and is in need of some TLC. The staff are very friendly and helpful with most things happening with a minimum of fuss, so while it may not be for the fastidious traveller I found it comfortable and will certainly stay there again....
