Excellent hotel a little away from the noise, dust and smell of the main part of the city, but still only a few minutes pleasant stroll to nearby temples and the city centre. Fantastic view from the Mekong side of the building on sixth floor where I stayed and incomparable view from the 14th floor restaurant. Breakfast was varied, plentiful and excellent. Staff were efficient and most courteous with sitdown registration process and a refreshment which gives a truly Laotian touch. Free transfer to and from the airport is most considerate. Will stay here again without hesitation....

The hotel was extremely comfortable and we loved the location as it is situated a little outside the town centre. It was lovely to return to the quiet and luxury after a busy day shopping in the markets! There is a complementary shuttle-bus service which we used quite often, particularly at night when we went into town centre to dine in some of the the excellent restaurants. We felt safe and well looked after at this hotel. Our room had a magic view over the Mekong River and a private balcony. We also loved the breakfast at this hotel, there was an excellent choice of both European and Asian dishes, and service was perfect. We originally booked three nights at the Don Chan Palace, but liked it so much we stayed a forth night. Although there is a good choice of value hotels in Vientienne, we would definately chose the Don Chan Palace again were we to return. We were delighted with our stay there.

What a great hotel for the money! Unbelievably nice marble bathroom, large sized room with lots and lots of lights, including a tray ceiling light. Nice, large comfortable bed. Good cable TV, too. Room faced the city, not the river, so that wasn't so great, plus you could hear the dance music and noise from the dance club on the 3rd floor well past midnight (I was on the 5th floor). Exercise room was a bit cool, as it was open to the outside, and had lots of newer equipment, but not necessarily top-notch. Food at the breakfast buffet was just OK. An easy walk to town. Complimentary airport shuttle also a plus.

I will rather suggest in this column that internet facilities be installed in the rooms so that guests will find it convinient to be contacted with his or her world business and personal links, rather than looking for public internet that will be too noisy, not to talk of privacy that can not be guarranteed there.

It is almost satisfactory for the hotel room, facilities, services, hospitality, food and taste, location beside Mekong, except the water sound in bathroom from upstairs, sound of upstairs in bed room.

In many ways a good hotel, but like so many international 5-star hotels, the ambience was a little cold and clinical

A bit of a problem getting to to the main part of town because tuk tuk were not always available and it was a long walk to the main road. Staff Very polite, and helpful.

The hotel was very comfortable. The in-room massage service was superb and very cheap! There was a great choice of food at the buffet-style breakfast. Though the in-house coffee shop was rather expensive. I would definitely stay at Don Chan Palace again for visits to Vientiane.

Very smart modern hotel right on the mekong. Get one of the river facing rooms with balcony. A little bit far out of town. A 10-15 walk or only a quick tuk tuk from in front of hotel away. Pool area nice but under cover, so always a bit cool.
