Souvannaphoum Hotel is a colonial style hotel formerly the villa of Prince Souvannaphouma. Here guests can relax in the pleasant surrounding of the hotel's beautiful gardens, filled with orchids and fruit trees or watch the local monks receive their alms on the quiet morning streets.

Rated #5 for all Luang Prabang hotels
Really nice surprise when we arrived and the welcoming service was top class. Rooms were nice and tidy, but bathroom is in need of upgrade. Breakfast was plentiful and varied and the Spa attached to the Hotel was superb. Excellent location for taking a stroll into the centre and on the main road towards all the important sites and temples. Bike rental was expensive so check prices nearby to save. Overall highly recommended and a location difficult to beat....

The hotel was a little overpriced for what you got. The rooms are small and need refurbishment. The location is good and easy to walk to most places. The pool and restaurant area are nice, however, the food is limited at breakfast and the town offers a better standard and selection. I would choose a hotel in town next time, disappointing for the price you pay.

A hotel, which claims to be first class and which has very high room rates, should offer much better and personal service. We did not even get any help with our suitcases when checking out, despite the fact that we used the hotel van to the airport (at $24 in each direction!). Our room , a so called Twin Residence which is supposed to be the deluxe category. only had a shower, no bathtub. The breakfast was fair, nothing extraordinary. In total, a disappointment.

There's much to like about the Maison Souvannaphoum, including comfortable guest rooms, excellent housekeeping, good breakfasts, a very nice swimming pool and a helpful, friendly staff. Guests should know that it's a fair walk from the Luang Prabang town center – a distance that becomes noticeable if you're making the trip two or three or even four times as you might during a day of sightseeing. That said, I'd definitely stay there again.

The Souvannaphoum is a very nice boutique hotel with friendly and helpful staff who pay attention to details. They have a good restaurant with reasonable prices, too. The garden is well maintained the pool somewhat small though but I guess in a small hotel you cannot expect more. The rooms have in the upper floor a wonderfully big terrace with enough light ro read in the evening and with a ceiling fan. The rooms are a bit small, we had to squeeze in our luggage. The bathroom is quite original but not very practical. They placed stones around the shower area which make a nice effect but which are difficult to clean. There was a faint smell of sewage when the shower was on. The location is good, walking distance to the centre of the town and to the night market. It is far enough from the centre to be peaceful and quiet. After having compared with other hotels in Luang Prabang of the same price range, we would certainly choose the Souvannaphoum again.

The hotel is next to a very noisy street at night. Service is sometimes indifferent; english language skills not up to standard for this type of hotel
On the positive: beautifully restored property
