In a quiet, residential area not far from the centre of town and a few minutes' walk from the Talat Dala market and local restaurants, the exeterior of the Muang Luang Hotel resembles a temple with generously sized, comfortable rooms decorated simply in contemporary Lao style, combining antique furnishes with modern luxury. Friendly staffers can help to arrange tours to the beautiful waterfalls, temples and markets.

Rated #14 for all Luang Prabang hotels
The Mouang Luang is an attractive, reliable hotel that looks like a temple located on a quiet street a short walk away from the center of town. It is only a 5 minute walk to the Night Market. The hotel is very clean, comfortable and safe with a security guard and a locked gate at night. The room was spacious and pleasant with a cute balcony and table and chairs outside. Cable TV, A/C, no in-room safe deposit box but one is available in the hotel office. The marble bathroom was a bit dated but clean and in good working order, the bed was a little bit too soft for my taste. The room tariff incl...

The quality of the hotel is quite acceptable - the rooms are clean and not too small. The staff is friendly and ready to provide their advice when you request it. The two major weaknesses of the hotel are: poor breakfasts and not very convenient location - you need to walk some 15-20 minutes to the major places of interest in Luang Prabang. I stayed in the hotel during a high season, so the value for money was also quite unimpressive - I had to pay some US$20 dollars above the usual rate of the hotel.

The room was dark since there was a wall not far from the window. The lamps in the room didn´t give that much light. Worst of all was that someone from the staff stole money from my friends. They had deposited money at the reception and after check out saw that some of the money was stolen. We reported it to the police.

The marble bathroom was a bit dated but clean and in good working order, the bed was a little bit too soft for my taste. The room tariff included a good buffet breakfast but I did not otherwise eat in the hotel. The pool and grounds were immaculate and the lobby is welcoming and comfortable. The hotel staff were wonderfully professional and friendly. Laundry service was efficient but I felt a bit too pricey. I think it is a nice place to stay, safe and clean and comfortable but may be just a bit too expensive for Luang Prabang. I think 35- 40 usd would be a fair price given the area. At 56, it was a bit steep but I took it anyway because I had stayed here 3 years ago and knew it was pleasant and reliable. It was affordable by western standards.
