The Kenyan Safari Rally is right up there with the Paris and Daka races in terms of popularity. The terrain features bumpy plains, difficult off-road terrain and snaking mountain trails. The event is tiresome and severely tests the mettle of its contestants.
It’s not uncommon for engine failure to prematurely end the race for many drivers. The hot and dusty conditions are a challenge for both contestants and their vehicles. Come out and celebrate how human will—and a dash of luck—can overcome adversity.
The Rhino Charge is a 4x4 off-road rally over rough topography. The winner is the driver who makes his way between the 12 posts in the shortest distance and in the least amount of time. The annual charge has been held in Kenya since 1989. The protection of Aberdare National Park and its rhinos is supported through the event. Rhino Ark, a Kenyan charity, gets all the money raised during the race. Thousands of fans line the circuit to watch the spectacle every year.
A mix of culture, adventure, action and some seriously speedy camels. Since 1990, these annual races have been going strong. The event attracts derby watchers and contestants.
