Jordan Introduction

Those of you would be forgiven for not knowing much about tourism in the fabled country of Jordan. The history of Jordan dates back before Christ and is one of the seemingly mythical countries of the Middle East. A land of Biblical stories, lost cities and the famous Lawrence of Arabia, Jordan has so much to offer anyone who visits.

Ten percent of Jordan’s economy can be attributed to its tourism industry. Because of their investment in the hospitality industry, it is easy to expect and appreciate the beauty and friendliness of the Jordanian people.

Must-see destinations include Aqaba on the south coast and the areas near and around the Dead Sea. Many people visit the Dead Sea to enjoy the invigorating mineral properties of the somewhat mystical sea. Many luxury spas operate within the Dead Sea region, offering unique ways to make the body feel regenerated with the special healing properties of the Dead Sea waters.

Aqaba ,on the other hand, sports a 20 kilometre stretch of coast, for one to enjoy the beach and wallow away in the sun as ships and boats from all over sail in and out of the prime harbour destination. Five-star resorts offer you all the luxuries one require and fine restaurants serve exquisite cuisine to titillate your taste buds.
Visitors can enjoy all of Jordan’s historical sights and important monuments, with their deep religious symbolism. Don’t forget cities such as Wadi Rum, Petra, Pella, Ajloun, Madaba among others, and don’t miss the capital, Amman. Culturally rich and full of great shopping opportunities, being bored is not an option.

A land of Biblical stories, lost cities and Lawrence of Arabia, Jordan is a magical and untapped country simply oozing romance and mystery. If it was located in any other part of the world, Jordan would be awash with tourists. But the source of its wealth of amazing sites is also the cause of its isolation. The dangerous and unstable reputation of the Middle East keeps out all but the most intrepid travellers. But here’s the great surprise: Jordan is, on the whole, a very safe, peaceful and friendly country.

As one of the safer countries in the Middle East, Jordan offers some truly memorable and impressive adventures for children. You won’t find Disney-like amusement parks here, but the grandeur of Petra or a camel ride with the Bedouin should be enough to wow the most jaded of kids.

Even though the nation of Jordan has only been around about 60 years, the land where it is located is one of the most historically important regions on earth. If you are a fan of Bible stories, or a history buff, you’ll be shocked at how many major events in Humanity’s timeline happened right here in Jordan’s desert. You can trace the path of Moses, see the spot where Jesus was baptised by John and visit Herod’s fortress where Salome danced the dance that got John the Baptist beheaded. There is the lost city of Petra, considered the eighth wonder of the world, the fortress where Lawrence of Arabia lived and the natural beauty of the Red Sea. The only dilemma facing visitors to Jordan is where to begin.
