Amman enjoys a warm arid climate similar to the Mediterranean. The prime time for a visit is between September and November, when temperatures are refreshingly cool and the skies bright and blue. April is another excellent month in Amman, as the rainy season is tapering off, but temperatures aren't too hot. By the end of May the heat becomes intense, regularly climbing into the 40s (oC) until the end of August. Fortunately, humidity levels are very low during the baking summer, helping conditions remain (somewhat) tolerable.
Located at the very heart of Amman's oldest district is Balad Souk, a classic Middle Eastern market that epitomises the feel of a timeless desert bazaar. Even though modern development threatens to encroach on it, Balad is holding its own, providing locals and visitors with a sense of the exotic so elusive in today's world. The surrounding old town of Balad itself is also worth a thorough exploration.
Amman's newest and most grandiose religious structure is this huge mosque with its striking cobalt mosaic dome. Up to 3,000 worshippers can fit into the mosque for prayers, creating an impressive sight for visitors (especially on Fridays) who have never witnessed the passion and devotion of Islam.
Amman's Queen Alia International Airport handles regular daily flights from a large number of international destinations across the Middle East, Europe and Asia. Jordan's national carrier Royal Jordanian Airlines operates most of the flights exclusively from Terminal 1, while regional carriers like Qatar Airways and Gulf Air pick up the slack in Terminal 2. A third terminal is under construction and will greatly increase passenger capacity once completed.
Visitors from every country must obtain a visa to enter Jordan. Citizens of most countries can receive a tourist visa upon arrival at the airport, or you can arrange one beforehand at a Jordanian consulate. Tourist visas are valid for stays of two weeks, but are easily extended at any police station for up to three months. Travel agents can also arrange the visa extensions. Always carry your passport with you while travelling in Jordan.

This month's lucky winner is Mr. Laith Addabbas who lives in Jordan.
