The staff was very friendly and did their best to communicate with us and be helpful despite language barriers. Taxi's were also constantly available and the drivers eager to also negotiate language barriers. Not much shopping available within walking distance. Restaurant clean, nice, and wait staff friendly, although there was little to no "american" food available....

The Pacific Hotel is centrally located in Naha and well-known. The location is quiet too.The good points are numerous in that room size is comparable to an American chain motel and it is fairly clean. THe store it the lobby stays open until almost 11 PM, which is nice. Points that I didn't care for: There was no Wi-Fi in the rooms nor LAN access. To use the Wi-Fi, one needs to go to the lobby and from midnight to 6 AM there is no internet availability. Also there was a distinct after-smell of cigarette smoke in our room There are no non-smoklng rooms there, evidently. This is par for the course in Japan, unfortunately. While I am EXTREMELY sensitive to these odors, it wasn't unbearable, however.A breakfast buffet was included in our stay and it was a mixture of western fare and typical Japanese breakfast fare. The menu was exactly the same, every day, which became tiresome quickly. The breakfast menu needs to be improved, along with providing silverware in addition to the ubiquitous disposable chopsticks. The hotel is geared toward Japanese guests primarily, but there were a fare number of foreign guests and there were also a good number of English speaking staff members, so it is is foreigner-friendly.I would recommend it, as it was basically a decent place and quite well-maintained. The price was average for Japan.
