The Palazzo Schiavoni was recommended to us by HotelTravel.com when we were unable to get reservations at the hotel we requested. This is a lovely intimate hotel with a family feel on a quiet canal. The reception area and the breakfast room have beautiful frescos painted on the ceilings. The breakfast was just perfect. The service was friendly. The hotel and the rooms were very clean. I gather from other reviews I have read that there are some spacious rooms. Unfortunately, we stayed in the smallest hotel room I have ever seen (and I have seen some small ones). I believe it was called the "Doge." There was barely room for our luggage against the walls. The bed took up most of the room. There was no room for even the tiniest dresser (although, in fairness, there was a closet to hang clothes). The bathroom was clean, modern, but just as tiny as the bedroom. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were very hard. I couldn't really figure out what they were filled with. At a minimum, this room should be offered at a big discount. Despite our disappointment in the size of the room, we would stay at this lovely hotel again if we could be guaranteed that we would not be assigned the itty bitty "Doge" room.
