Rated #101 for all Rome hotels
Ripa Hotel is an excellent place to stay in Rome. It is located in a quiet street but very close to everything you can do in Rome. You can take the bus or the tram easily to the main sites of cultural, religious and touristic interest or, if you want, you can just walk a little bit and you find the unique ambiance of Trastevere by night: full of nice people, good restaurants, "tratorias", and bars. If you decide for a "passegiata" (a walk), the island in the Tiber River is just 10 minutes far from the hotel and the Gianicollo Hill offers you one of the nicest views of Rome by night. By the end...

The location of this hotel is pretty goog; not too far from the city centre and just a short stroll away from the excellent Trastevere eating and drinking district.
Hotel rooms are a good size with a large balcony overlooking a dirty street. Day staff were really nice and helpful but you would be in more luck of obtaining advice or assistance from a rock than the night staff! Everything that we wanted to do after 5pm was a struggle, including having to sneek friends into our suite for birthday drinks as they were not going to be permitted which seems pretty medieval to me.
Rooms are in need of an upgrade and if you dont want to watch the tele you needent worry as you could cover it with a hanky!
Very handy locale for those with a mind towards restuarants and booze.

The hotel was in a good location for all the main tourist sites. Hotel staff were friendly and helpfull. Only complaint was the hotel room does not have any a/c and feels quite warm at night. Would recommend this hotel

By the end of the day (or at the end of the night), returning to the Ripa Hotel, to its relaxing rooms and its mininal design is all you need to make you ready for another long sunny day in the eternal city. Leaving Rome is always a painfull experience but, this time was a little bit more difficult because we had to leave "our home" in Rome (as we called it) at the same time.
