Positano is a beautiful town of pastel-coloured buildings perched on a hillside above a scenic bay in southern Italy, off the Amalfi Coast. Main sights include the church of Santa Maria Assunta and sleepy fishing boats perched of the shore. Made famous by John Steinbeck’s essay written in 1953, the writer commented “Positano bites deep. It is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there, and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone.”
