The hotel was as we expected good value, quiet position, wonderful views and to our suprise, was near good transport connections, as it was about one hundred metres from the funicular system. Although walking was another option, at least downwards. We would book into this hotel again. ...

This hotel provides value for money, however, the decor and the manner of some of the staff needs bringing into the 21st Century. Overall the decoration of the reception area and the bedrooms was of a high standard but the colours and choice of wallpapers and fabrics was dated which gave a 'drab', dark and gloomy feel throughout. Some of the staff were condescending and in some cases were downright rude to their guests, often choosing to finish their work at the computer rather than attend to guests waiting at the reception desk! On the other hand some of the staff were very accomodating and couldn't have been more helpful. Perhaps quality assurance was lacking? On one occasion the porter was severely reprimanded by the person on Reception (Even to clapping his hands to emphasise he wanted the job done now!) which was incredibly embarrasing for my friend and I who had created the issue by asking if we could collect our luggage as it hadn't arrived in reception.
The breakfast buffet started well and was of good variety but tailed off towards the end of the week, however, there was always plenty of whatever was on offer. The evening meal, from the a la carte menu or 30 Euro set menu, included standard choices and was tasty.
Overall, the hotel was a good choice although it is quite an uphill 'trek' or taxi ride at the end of a tiring day.
