Milan was originally founded by the Celts of Northern Italy around 600 BC. The Romans conquered the Celts around 222 BC. They were soon renamed Mediolanum. During the 4th century Milan prospered and became the second largest city in Europe, with more than 300,000 inhabitants.
Milan is home to some of the most beautiful courses in the world. The Golf Club Milano is one of Italy's most prestigious golf clubs. The annual encounter with members of the Royal and Ancient at St. Andrews exemplifies its active golfing tradition. It boasts a luxurious clubhouse and a course well-suited to all standards of play.
Milano Moda Uomo: This fashion event showcases the latest designs and trends for the fall/winter men's clothing lines from all of the top designers.
Arguably the most famous opera house in the world, Milan’s La Scala Opera was built in 1778. The opera grounds have inspired and given life to countless masterpieces composed by such greats as Rossini, Puccini, Verdi and Toscanini. The grand performance centre stands on the hallowed site of a church built in 1381, the Santa Maria della Scala.
Italy Chauffeur service, full coverage of Italy, shore excursions and transfers from the major ports, airports and railway stations. Private English and French speaking driver/guide.
Medical facilities in Milan are adequate for any emergencies that may arise. All public hospitals are operated by the National Health Service. Medical facilities are available, but may be limited outside urban areas. Public hospitals sometimes do not maintain the same standards as many international hospitals, so travelers are encouraged to obtain insurance that would cover a stay in a private Italian hospital or clinic.
