There are plenty of hotels here and the numbers keep growing as more and more tourists come and enjoy this city. Most of the nicer hotels are along Hayarkon Street, which runs along the beach and includes a lot of the five-star places. The Dan Tel Aviv, SheratonTowers and Crowne Plaza are the best choices for luxury. There are reasonably priced rooms in the city, but most of them are not facing the beach. Check out some of the side streets running away from the sea for a budget hotel. Tel Aviv is a very noisy city, especially at night. So if you want peace and quiet, choose a room at the back and not right on a main street. Summer months can be quite busy, so book your room ahead of time.

The vibrant bustling metropolis of Tel Aviv is an anomaly within the conservative religious state of Israel. In contrast to the ancient backdrop which surrounds everything around it, Tel Aviv is less than 100 years old, making it the first Jewish city of modern times. The city is considered one of Israel's more tolerant towns, due to its cosmopolitan populace, making it an attractive destination for travellers.

With its wonderful beaches and warm weather you can be sure to find something to do that the kids will enjoy. Outdoor activities abound, but there are also a handful of interesting and educational sights which will easily keep your children’s attention.

British Film Festival: for ten days in the middle of the month the Tel Aviv Cinematheque shows a wide variety of British films which were released in the previous year.

Tel Aviv is a fascinating blend of the very old and the very new. Since the city itself is less than 100 years old, most of its attractions lie in more modern developments, like its mass of Bauhaus architecture, which gave it the name ‘The White City’. In the 1930s, Tel Aviv was a model of ultramodern urban living. Today, it has learned to blend this image with the extremely ancient atmosphere of the port city of Jaffa. The result is a fun collage of the exotic and the chic. A visitor to this sun-drenched city can stay entertained for many days.

Tel Aviv is a fairly compact city and does not have the extent of public transportation options of larger cities. There’s no metro, tram or train service, but the city does have a decent bus system and plenty of taxis. There’s also the sheruts, a kind a minivan which operates like a shared taxi and will take you wherever you wish. Most visitors arrive in Tel Aviv at the Ben Gurion International Airport, about 20kms southeast of the city.

Tel Aviv has a very unique system of business hours, based on Jewish religious tradition. Most Jews observe the Shabbat (also known as the Sabbath) which starts at sundown on Friday and continues until sundown on Saturday. According to their religion you should not do any work on the Shabbat, so most Jewish businesses are closed during this time, including the public buses. However, many nonkosher restaurants may remain open. Many businesses close for a 2 to 3 hour siesta between 13:00 and 16:00.
