Kerry Airport is the gateway to Killarney, situated just a few kilometres from the town centre and receiving flights from Ireland, the UK and other European countries. The airport has one small terminal and all the facilities you’ll need, including ATMs, currency exchange, a duty-free shop, a bar and restaurant, as well as a post office and first-aid facilities.

Flights come in with Aer Arann, Ryanair, and Titan Airways, and if you can’t get a flight to Kerry, consider flying to nearby Cork. To get to Killarney from Kerry Airport, a shuttle greets all flights and buses run to destinations throughout the country. There is also a taxi rank at Kerry Airport while those who hire cars simply take the T65 south to Killarney.

It’s easy to get about Killarney on foot as the town is very compact and as such has no real bus service. Walking tours of the town are best done by following the sign-posted “Tourist Trail”, while horse-drawn buggies, known as jarveys, are a popular way to get to Killarney National Park from Kenmare Place in the town centre.

Cycling is another great way to get about Killarney town and the national park, and there are paved cycle paths in Knockreer, Muckross and Ross Island to boot. Several places in town rent out bicycles. Those who prefer a taxi to get about will find them at College Square and the airport, while hire cars can be pre-booked online and picked up at Kerry Airport.
