We have stayed at other Waka resorts before, however, we were overall disappointed with our expereince at this hotel. The room itself was fine, as expected for the money, however, the rest of the resort felt that it lacked the care and attention that it required. The staff appeared to do their best to make our stay good, but the swimming pool was very dirty - with large amounts of sand and bore no resemblance to the photo which was a shame. We had several power cuts whilst in our room - one lasting nearly 2 hours - early evening which meant we couldnt wash or dress as we had no water and no electricity. we would have expected a resort which was part of a bigger group, to have its own generator for such emergencies. with no working torch we couldnt even leave the room. On one day (of the 3 we were there) they had a group of day trippers arrived to use the hotel facilities, which created alot of noise and we ended up having to go out, as it was not relaxing being in the resort. This of course is not included in the hotel information provided, as with only 10 rooms you expect it to be reasonably quiet and relaxing. We liked the laid back, back to baiscs nature of the resort, however, we felt that it could do with a bit of an update. Good clean bedroom with reasonable bathroom. We had dinner one night - which was ok - but very poor lighting - and also not as good value as other hotel restaurants, so we were not inclined to eat there again. We were never opffered drinks or food etc during the day - so we flet they could have made more effort in this area.
swimming pool was dirty and we didnt feel inclined to swim in it.
There was a lack of general information on the hotel facilities and what services were available. For example no one mentioned the Waka sailing boat. times for snorkelling trips etc were sketchy. hotel is located on the best part of the island in terms of other hotels / restaurants / nice beach etc. gardens were tidy but lacked any flowers which would enhance them. (not sure if this is the island or lack of watering on the resort)
