Beautiful grounds and a lovely villa setting. Location was great, close to the centre and shuttle available for those that don't want to walk. We were happy with our stay, but beware: the rooms have no TV and are basic. Beds were hard and old and pillows were also past their use by date. The setting is on a steep hill so if you don't like steps, you should consider another hotel.

The gardens and pools were just beautiful. The room was lovely, though tired and the bathroom was in urgent need of refurbishing. The construction work directly below our room was disappointing, making it difficult to use our room during the day, but at least it started late morning. The spa and massage were wonderful, and the service throughout was excellent.

Peaceful area to stay, with sounds of river and jungle was magic. The Hotel is located on side of hill, with lots of levels and many steps so wouldn’t be suitable for less mobile guests. Staff very helpful and would be happy to stay there again.

This was our 3rd time staying here. As always the staff were wonderful and our air conditioning was fixed promptly after management was told. We were made to feel very welcome to attend ceremonies and really enjoyed the cultural aspects of staying at the Tjampuhan. The staff and the surroundings make up for anything the hotel lacks and it is great value for money. When we come back now its like coming home.

What an amazing place, very vey beautiful and the onsite spa built in a grotto by the river has to be seen to be believed. The whole resort is like a picture postcard, rooms were fine, a little run down with no fridges, but the setting more than made up for it. Restaurant expensive but heaps of other places to choose from in ubud, many many steps all through this resort so not for the elderly.

While the Tjampuhan has the most gorgeous setting by the river, the rooms need to be updated and the bathrooms modernised. The main problem I had was insect life. I was bitten each time I sat outside or by the swimming pool and in the room. The bathroom was alive at night and first thing in the morning due to there being no flywire over the window. One morning it was like a scene from a horror film, there were so many flying around. The bathrooms were mouldy and dark probably because there was no ventilation fan. I wouldn't stay there again.

Excellent Hotel Grounds and friendliness of staff - note highly terraced access to rooms means hard work for older persons. Buffet breakfasts really great value and quality. Our rooms were both recently refurbished so they were of a good quality and our views over the river were excellent. We heard from other patrons that some rooms were not to standard - these are non refurbished. There are not televisions in the rooms, televsion facilities were in the restaurant & a new TV room being constructed -this was ok for us, but will not suit all We have stayed here 3 times and will stay again.

The location is nice with beautiful gardens and pool area. Room was big enough, but could be a bit cleaner. Staff looked very bored. The reason for booking this hotel was the spa, but this wasn't working.

The Tjampuhan offers a very nice view over their lucious gardens and a green tropical river valley. It has character with many Bali-style statues and carvings; esspecially their Spa is almost overly decorated. The hourly shuttle to Ubud center is convenient, but almost unnessecary because its only 1km away. The rooms are large, the bathroom acceptable but could have been a little cleaner.

a great hotel but needs to review its current system of maintenance. We had ants all over us when we woke up one morning and would not have happened if the loft had been fumigated. Bathroom needs ventilation fan to improve air circulation to prevent the build up of mould and other fungus.

Upon arival we were met by the manager who told us there was a problem with our room. Without going into details we were satisfied that this was beyond their control. In compensation we were upgraded to a very nice room in a nearby hotel for our first night. Returning we found the Tjampuhan and sorounding grounds to be breathtakingly beautiful and throughly enjoyed the rest of our stay. The only letdown for us was the food. The breakfast was basic and the dinner overpriced for the quality however the free shuttle service made it easy to dine in one of Udbud's many fine restraunts

This is a traditional Balinese hotel, which gives great service and, because of its location is quiet and peaceful. There are many steep steps so its not suitable for the disabled but the location is an integral part of its beauty. The breakfasts are ok, but the tea and coffee are mediocre - you are better off wandering down the road to Murni's Warung. The spa facilities are gorgeous and I would definitely stay here again.

A unique hotel set in beautiful surroundings-perfect for a true Balinese experience. Ideal for those wanting to escape from the frantic pace,it is situated close enough to central Ubud and has a frequent shuttle service.Perhaps not suited to young families or those with a disabiliy as it is on a steep site. Definitely woth a visit!

Absolutely fantastic stay! Staff was exceptionally accommodating, nice and helpful, particularly when planning a day of sight seeing and activities. Free shuttle was great for getting to evening dances and the Monkey Forest. The Hotel is central: well within walking distance to the Ubud market, walks in the countryside,etc. Breakfast was wonderful; pool was lovely and clean. The gardens around the hotel are beautifully maintained and landscaped, providing great photo opportunities; it's like stepping into a paradise. The spa is breathtaking to say the least. Our room was spacious, clean and house-keeping prompt. The bathroom in our room was rather dated by comparison with other hotels, but was nevertheless clean and acceptable. Staying at the Tjampuhan was unlike anything we have ever experienced, in Bali or elsewhere; don't pass up the opportunity to stay at this hotel.

this is the 2nd time i stayed in tjumpuhan . the staffs are really friendly and helpful. the shuttle bus is excellent arranged,especially the route. i think tjumpuhan is the only hotel which set monkey forest as the 2nd stop .and the bus could stop at any place along the bus route. tjumpuhan is also located in a very good place, it~s not far from the ubud palace(only 10 min walk), but also could enjoy peace and leisure.i love the beautiful valley and the river in it,and i saw squirrels running in its forest.

Strategic location, near Ubud centre.Was available free transport to/ from Ubud Centre and Monkey Forest. Perfect place for rest, quiet place. Nice spa. But the pool was small. No television in room. We recomended this place for holiday.

Excellent location on valley side. Let down by poor cleaning of bathrooms and strange goo in pots! Just needs the management to crack down on its quality control. For now take antiseptic wipes and you will be fine!

Old fashioned charm within a spectacular setting. Room clean, cool and spacious. Bar service sometimes slow, and lack of fridge in the room disappointing - especially after the 120 steps and 30degree heat! Overall, a pleasant stay.

Although the hotel is so excellently located among thick tropical forest with a river running in the valley, the rooms clearly need to be upgraded. It would help if a referigerator was provided and tea/cofee making machine in the room. The bathroom was very basic and could do with a makeover. The best part of course is the lush green surroundings. The staff are very courtious and there is even a shuttle coach to town, a 5 minute ride, every hour. Overall - good!

Each time we come to Bali we come to stay at the Tjampuhan hotel. The hotel itself is simple but clean and authentic. The gardens are superb we give them 5 stars! As for the spa, well you have never seen anything like it; it is like a carved out grotto completely carved with the most amazing figures! They have complimentary transport every hour back and forward to Ubud town, but it is only a 10 minute walk. You haven't seen Bali, if you haven't been to Ubud.

Beautiful gardens located on side of a river gorge. Many steps and narrow paths to the rooms, hotel staff very obliging and helpful. Hotel shuttle bus to town is great. Rooms are a bit tired and dark.
