Segara Village Hotel was absolutely amazing. My wife and I went in July. We didn't really want to be in the party area of Kuta, so we opted for the Sanur area. We were soooo glad that we made that decision. Kuta is just a different area. When we got to Sanur, we walked up and down the beach looking at other hotels, and Segara Village blew every other hotel away. The hotel grounds are huge with tons of places to snuggle up with a book. The ocean is unbelievably close, and there are plenty of shops and restaurants up and down the beach. Descriptions of rooms on internet is misleading. A "cottage" turns out to be a pretty standard hotel room. Internet is not free, except in restaurant and not available in the room at all. When I expressed concern about these things, the hotel did respond by providing us with an upgraded room and free internet access at no additional charge, so they DID make it right. However, future customers should know that the words they use to describe their rooms are not consistent with common understanding of what those words mean.

Hotel Facilities - We love the hotel swimming pool by the beach! It is the best along the whole beach of Sanur. The room is bright, big & clean although the aircon is not cold enough. We didn't know there is a fitness center, as there is not indication anywhere (we ended up missing our regular exercise regime)! Beautiful balinese gardens on the large hotel compound.Food - Hotel food is just mediocre. However with such great location along Sanur, there is definitely no worry about getting food as many beach restaurants are just steps away. They have american, italian, chinese & local food at reasonable prices (cheaper than those in Kuta). Some negative comments are that the beaches have no privacy, with the restaurants and shops so close and esp. on weekends where the locals will be there.

my only complaint is that beach is pretty bad-- and not at all what is depicted in the internet sites. we went down to La Taverna's beach instead, which was larger, nicer and had services. we were mot warned about the construction near the beach front pool.
