Location, location, location. This hotel is ideally placed and within walking disttance of almost everything in Kuta and or Tuban. The staff are outstanding and the rooms, although old and very tired, are spotlessly clean and comfortable. The one restaurant serves reasonably priced and tasty food but with a limited menu. This however is not a problem with so many excellent restaurants within a stones throw of the hotel. For the traveller on a budget then look no further, you won't be dissappointed.

We stayed in the ground floor room which backed on to the larger pool it was very noisy till late at night and as early as 6am. The light from the pool shined in our window all night so there was not much sleeping going on but everything else about this hotel was great. I would stay again just in a different room.

Overall my 5 night stay at the Melasti was enjoyable and relaxing. The staff were only to happy help me with any quereies. The hotel is close to everything you really need beach and markets. Night clubs 15 min walk if you want or taxi bout same time with one way streets and all.

No cups in rooms we stayed but when requesting from housekeeping, the reply was we could not have cups. No bath towels given after 1st night of stay and we have to ask for them. We were told to collect breakfast vouchers everyday from reception desk but when we did just that, we were told to go into the restaurant directly - however, entry was denied. One ensuite looks dirty and old. Bedrooms looks dark. two light bulbs were flickering in two of our rooms. Arrived in Bali in late evening at this hotel, ater having breakfast in the following morning, two of us had bad stomach upset - experience was reported to hotel staff but was told to have nothing to do with and not come from hotel. Overall, the feeling of disappointment is living well in the memory long after leaving bali.

The location of the hotel is near from airport and near from Kuta beach and it's located also near to the F&B and shopping area. The room is big enough to accommodate my family. "Value for Money" - with the rate we paid, we got a room & we can use some facilities and also got breakfast.

it was nothing like the pictures i saw in the internet...the floor was dirty so we have to use sandals in the room...but the toilet is clean..they have 2 swimming pools which not as big as on the pictures but the other one is ok..We loved the location though,near Kuta Beach..not a problem if there's no direct access to go there, we have to pass the market but it really near..they have a lots of restaurant near by, near the Kartika Plaza another good point...well we will love to stay there again

This hotel is older and shows, but the rooms are clean the staff are freindly and helpful and all the ammenities are well kept. The food in the resteraunt was great for both quality and price.The location if wanting to be close to shopping and nightlife was also convienent. For our purpose a Surfing trip with blokes only it was very good. I don't think I would take the family there the Melasti at legian is better for a family experience it's a quiter location.

Although this hotel is starting to show quite a few signs of aging,it is clean and maintained. The extensions appear to be ongoing and you can see the potential. We stayed in the 'new' wing and were pleased with the upgrade of the rooms though they could do with some new linen and a little more attention to the detailed cleaning. Good value for the location and price.

The staff in the lobby is not friendly. Facilities are very average. The rooms are far from lobby. Not suitable for elder. Just good value of money if you under budget. the location is strategic except there is cemetery behind the hotel. Over all..I dont think I want to stay there anymore.

the room apeared ok,nice big bed, big room, we had a dulux room so could here the ocean,the toilet didnt stop running, and the kettle didnt work, i called reception for a new kettle, the man came and jiggled it, it still didnt work, so he kept jiggling it until it worked, then said it was fixed. so for hot water it was an exercise of jiggling and hoping it didnt short out. the kids loved the pools, it was fairly quiet so we had the place to ourselves. the breakfast was nice,a bit off putting was the resident rat that watched us from the wall every morning. a tourisst nearly stood on it one morning which was very funny but not too good when eating.

The room we had was very good with only one draw back, the bathroom was very tired and in need of updating hence the average score.The hotel is in an excellent position for beach, restaurants, and nightlife.Having had a few problems at checkout, hence only average for the professionalism. Overall it is a very good Indonesian Hotel and good value for the rate we paid.

The staff here were unfriendly and in some instances quite rude. Upon arrival at reception I was treated as though I was some kind of inconvenience. The room, although clean and comfortable enough, had not been serviced with towels and bathroom supplies even though the room had been booked since the day before. A waiter queried me as to my right to breakfast and checked up to make sure I was staying there. I would not recommend this hotel, especially as there are so many others which are clean, have friendly staff and are economical very close by..

When I called 1 day prior arrival, my booking was not recorded in their system. this was very frustating. I had to make several calls before things were settled. On arrival I was presented two rooms with double bed, but I booked two single beds rooms. Again it took some time to correct this. So I am not pleased with the booking management.

As we were on the 3rd floor of the hotel, after a long days walk we felt like we were mountain goats walking up the stairs to our room. Our stay there was only for 6 nights and 2 days in a row there was no sugar or coffee replaced in our room, this was fixed, however they did say IF they could organise it someone would come deliver these. On one occasion they did not place any toilet paper in the room, even though there was not any left at all.

Great stay this time, no noise at night to get a good sleep, short walk to Matahari dept store and supermarkets, art markets etc.Great to have entertainment at the front of hotel, easy to meet people if a solo traveller. Always pleased with the service and food, drink at restaurant. Room is luxurious, a little disappointed no mini bar, just a fridge, no milk to make the tea & coffee provided in the deluxe room.....apart from this, no complaints! Will stay again....very happy.

Everyone at the hotel was very friendly and helpful, i arrived at 9-30 am and was given a room immidiately, not the best room i have to say but with the provision of moving the next day to a great room (207), the hotel is well situated for shopping, beach, entertainment, i did not even need to use a taxi for my stay everything was so close, great live music every night, i will deffinately go back.

With matahari, kuta centre, kuta art centre and discovery mall within walking distance, the location of this hotel is rather good, but far from beach (not a prob cos u'll walk pass many stalls and shops which will keep u busy). Hotel is very unique with nice decorations and all, but the room is pretty normal for a 3 star hotel. The hotel restaurant has got live band and close to the street, consider a bintang there once u checked into your room. If you've been to kuta before, you'd not like the location as its not close to poppies and legian street, but if ur a first timer like me, you cant ask for more. Away from the mayhem and hustling but near! No shortcut to the beach, the shortcut that ppl have been talking abt is to jump over a fence from the hotel's swimming pool, but its not a gd idea afterall. You'll have to cut through discovery mall to get access to the beach, but you can forget it cos the beach directly behind melasti is not attractive and no action there. Im rather dissappointed with the kuta beach cos its dirty, messy and murky water, can even find dead fish on the beach. probably is becos of the monsoon season, im not sure will the condition improve come march-sept. The spa services in this hotel apparantly is one of the better known ones. Not exactly a must-try, only if you got time and $$. Overall, a great place/location to stay for a first timer. But don't expect great rooms and hotel services.

We managed to get new duluxe room at new wing.Very nice and clean. Have new swimming pool. Hotel staf very friendly. The hotel near to everything bali can offer. Only thing, there no direct access to beach although its located along the kuta beach. We will come and stay here again.

Hotel very run down and not in an attractive setting. The pool was just a rectangular shape with no shade or proper sunbeds to use. The food was good in the restaurent but the decor and the position of it next to a very busy road meant it was not an enjoyable place to eat. We had moved from a much nicer cheaper hotel to here for some shopping and it is in a central position but we would not go back again.

I booked a superior room for 20 days during March 09 and was pleasantly surprized to be upgraded to a deluxe room. The room was huge and had very good hot water which if you go to Bali often can be a hit or miss situation. The Melasti Beach Bungalows has a sister resort at Legian called the Melasti beach Resort. I stayed there in Jan 09 and rate both hotels great value for money. The Kuta Melasti is right near Kuta Sqaure, Waterbom Park and Discovery Shopping Mall and only a few minutes to the beach. The staff are great, the spa excellent and the breakfast a very good buffet style. The rooms were spotlessly cleaned every day by a smiling staff member and nothing was too much trouble.The hotel has 2 pools, one that is huge and very refreshing and with tons of shade and a kiddies wqading pool and the other a good size pool mainkly in the sun and therefore warmer water.The Melasti may appear a bit old and tired but it is undergoing restoration. In a busy area once you enter the grounds you are in a quiet haven seemingly far away from the hustle and bustle.I have been to Bali 5 times and if you want a great value for money hotel close to everything and with good facilities then you can not go past this hotel. It is ideal for singles, couples, families, the young and young at heart.

The rooms in this hotel were absolutely huge. On arrival we had a choice of two other rooms, but chose our room based on size and proximity to the pool. OK, it's a 3 star hotel, but at the price you certainly couldn't complain. The breakfast was included and was so good that our friends came from their hotels to the Melasti to enjoy a great choice of local and breakfast staples such as bacon and eggs etc. I would recommend this hotel to anyone a) on a budget, b) wants value for money & c) enjoys a good hearty breakfast in pleasant surroundings. I would stay there again without hesitation.

Good value for what you pay. I stayed at Ayu Beach in on Poppy I the next night though which is only a 10 minute walk away and half the price minus a tv but who watches tv in Bali anyway. The room at Melasti was nice, clean, spacious, and the surroundings are lush with a nice pool. It's not beachfront (maybe 10 minute walk through the main brand name tourist shopping area.

Air condition wasn't working well, room was changed but the air condition still had problems. Place has a nice balinese touch to it. Had problems with extending our stay at Melasti, had to persistently complain to keep the current room we're staying in. However the manager cooperated in the end.

We were with the room, standard room at Melasti means old and poorly maintained, the bathroom needed a good cleaning and it smelled mould. The size of the room was very good. We could add an extra bed easily and still have space to use the sofa. I checked the possibility to upgrade but the price was too much more ( they only had deluxe room available), on the last day we checked a superior room and it was much better, like another hotel. I would stay there again but in a different room. The location is really, really good. The live music at the restaurant is loud but we can't hear anything from the rooms.

I have stayed at the Melasti 3 times now, it is a great place to stay, it has the beautiful traditional balinese layout, there is a great bar and food area near the entrance that always has some music on, it was always fun down there, the music cant be heard when your in your room either which is great if you want a quiet night. It sits right on the beach of kuta and only a 2 minute walk into kuta square for shopping and more places to eat and drink. I would recommend this place to anyone, i hope this helps your stay in wonderful smiley bali

The air con is not working. Imagine fully blast the air con and I still have to open the balcony door to sleep simply because I'm sweating whole nite??? Secondly the so called fitness center... please do something about it. Location wise is good but to let it opened and subject to salty atmosphere only makes the limited equipment damage faster. The hotel bungalow design and layout are traditional balinese. My only complaint is that the rooms can be better maintained - dust can be seen in corners, floor feels sticky - and there should be smoking and non-smoking rooms, or guests should be asked not to smoke in the room because the bed and couch smells of smoke.

We got an upgrade to deluxe rooms from standard. Our room faced the beach and garden, so I could listen to the waves all day long plus live balinese music from the locals practising nearby. The only minus point is that it was the closest room to the temporary graves. Location, location, location - walking distance to beach, shopping complex and halal food places. The only complain is that there were flies everywhere, especially at the breakfast table. Hopefully, it is a seasonal thing because I have never been bombarded by flies in Bali in previous trips. Definately value for money. and location is excellent for that kind of money. If I wanted a little bit of posh I could always try its next door neighbours like Paradiso.

Big clean rooms, friendly staff, central location and that's where it ends. Pool bar closed restaurant is over run with flys decor is nil and needs money spent on it badly. Beach access is via a drop down ladder over a wall. Stay if you dont eat there.

Very swift check-in/out. Excellent Housekeeping staff. Requests were attended immediately. I did not like the wash basin area with the sunken mirror. The design is just not pratical and you might just knock your head if not careful. Overall, we got quite a pleasant stay.
