KERRY from Australia stayed in a Suite for 15 days.
My husband and I stayed at Melasti for 15 nights - Excellent hotel - We stayed in a cottage suite - ideal location - on ground floor next to big pool - very friendly and helpful staff with good levels of English - great food and pool area - Only one wish - Happy Hour would be an added bonus - they used to have it but no longer do it. A terrific holiday - close to great restaurants and shopping - if you up to it you can walk along the beach into Kuta - a good 30 minute walk - great in the morning - bit hot though if you leave it too late.
Please be patient…

Simone from Australia recently stayed in a Deluxe for 10 days.
This hotel was brilliant for a family with small children, all staff were very watchful of the children when they were playing in and around the complex. There's nothing that I would complain about this hotel, just recommend improvements on the restaurant food and create a 'happy hour' for cocktails. Brilliant location, easy walk to garlic lane and restaurants in Legian.Hotel Facilities

Christina from Australia recently stayed in a Superior for 2 days.
Stayed there from Monday 12th March 2012 till Wednesday 14th, the hotel is in bad need of a overhauling, the room was very dirty the shower/bath curtain was filthy with black mould all over; the air-con was so noisy we had to switch it off so it was very uncomfortable. Overall, it was a big letdown, room number 155.Hotel Facilities

Patricia from Australia recently stayed in a Suite for 18 days.
We stayed in a suite, which was very clean. They only negative was the shower nozzle needed upgrading as it didn’t work well. The breakfast was ok. We ate in the restaurant a couple of times; food was good but more expensive then outside. The play area was getting upgraded while we were there, but children could still play. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The location is great for families as it’s in a quiet area, away from the busy Kuta streets. I would stay there again.Hotel Facilities

Irene from Australia recently stayed in a Deluxe for 7 days.
My husband and I stayed in a Deluxe room for 7 nights (near the main reception area). The room was a good size and the bed and bathroom very clean, however the rest of the room needed a good scrub. We were on the 2nd floor with no elevator - bit of a long haul after 3-4 times a day (and unfit !). The room only had a very old little TV, no DVD player, and a tiny inefficient fridge. The breakfasts were uninteresting with no healthy options (no grain cereals and only white toast and no vegemite!) - the only saviour being the Egg Cook. This hotel has certainly been something in its time but really needs to get into the 21st century if its going to survive. In saying all that, it was a great location on the Legian Beach strip and great value for money, with typically beautiful and friendly service staff. I wouldn't recommend it if you are looking for 5-star value - it is 3-star and you get what you pay for.Hotel Facilities

Melasti is a great hotel especially if you have kids. The main pool is ideal with a bridge that allows kids to jump into pool all day. Location is excellent, plenty of restaurants nearby and along the beachfront. All your cheap Bali market shopping can be found near as well , but most stores start with excessive prices but soon drop with a bit of bartering (usually up to less than a quarter of original price ). 20 minute walk up the beach and you are in Kuta. Rooms are cleaned daily to a high standard. All staff are friendly and helpful . Have stayed twice before.Hotel Facilities

The new 2 drinks per day per person is not a good idea. Understand beer being part of this rule but not water! Also, no clarity on size of container e.g. saw man bring in 2-5 litre containers of water which was okay but lady bringing in 3-300ml bottle water was stopped and one was taken off of her.Hotel Facilities

We had a great holiday here. Location is fantastic, staff are friendly, service good, rooms big and clean, very happy. Stayed at the Melasti in late May for 8 nights. This was our second time there, very friendly staff speaking very good English. Karen from Scotland stayed in a Standard for 5 days.
After trying out 4 other (cheaper) hotels in the Legian/ Kuta area , the Melasti was far above them all. The 3 pools are great , nice atmoshere for couples and families alike. The location is fantastic , right on the beach and not as busy as the Kuta end. There's plenty of restaurants and shops in the area. The room was lovely (cheapest room), well cleaned with fresh towels everyday. It was a tad noisy at night with music from a bar downstairs but with earplugs it was fine. Very comfortable large bed. I would definatley stay at the Melasti again and so would my 6 yr old daughter, she hated Bali until we moved there. If the Melasti is out of your price range I would recommend the Sinar Bali round the corner.Hotel Facilities

I was booked into a standard room for the length of my stay. This, however was not the case after the first night (live music outside my window). The next morning I explained this to reception, and they were only to happy to relocate me for the same price. I ended up upgrading to a better room and decided to pay extra. The hotel is an older hotel that is clean and well facilitated. The pools are clean and well-maintained. The morning breakfast is also well presented , with a variety of different options every morning. Overall, my stay at the Melasti Beach Resort was very enjoyable and I will hopefully be returning soon.Hotel Facilities

Thought the hotel was in a good position, excellent service, room(suite) was very nice. The only issue i have was time sitting around the pool, the music that was played was all techno, not very relaxing at all, Offered to give them some different cd,s but didnt last very long. Yvonne from Australia stayed in a Deluxe for 8 days.
I stayed at the Melasti Legian Beach Resort with my sister, moving there from another hotel which had unknown construction occurring (thank you HotelTravel.com for the quick and painless change of booking while in the other hotel, super customer service!). On our arrival at the hotel with a fax copy of our booking we were greeted warmly by the reception staff and immediately shown to our room. We had a ground floor room facing the pool. The rooms at this hotel are much larger than most other hotels in Bali, they have a separate lounge area with a 2-seater and 2 armchairs and coffee table and a huge bathroom. While the rooms are older and showing their age they are clean and well serviced by the housekeeping staff. The beds had flower decoration on them which was a nice touch. The beds were comfortable and the linen was changed daily and was clean. There is a mini fridge and a room safe and ample cupboard space. The bedroom area also had a desk and chair. The sitting area can be separated from the sleeping area using curtains. The bathroom is very large and well lit with both a bath and separate shower. The T.V. included local and international channels. On the verandah were 2 chairs and a table and also a drying rack for your swimmers and the like. The grounds of the hotel are very attractive with a lush growth and many flowering plants. Mosquitoes were not a problem while we were there. There was one split system air-conditioner for the room and this was adjustable and more than powerful enough to keep the room ice cold if you wanted it. There are 2 main pools, one larger and deeper and the other an oval shape with a sort of current going through it so you can float around on the many floaties available. The oval shape one also has a children’s pool attached. Both pools have a pool bar. The hotel is right next to the beach, a road is all that separates it. The restaurant where breakfast is also served is located beachside. Breakfast was fine with enough variety for all, the standard fare for most Bali hotels. A couple of small stalls operate some mornings near the restaurant with fixed pricing which is reasonably priced for those who don’t want to bargain in the markets. While we did not eat in the restaurant except for breakfast we did use room service on a couple of occasions. While the meals were great and the service prompt we did have the misfortune to be missing a bottle opener in our room and also did not get cutlery with one meal, both times the situation was cheerfully rectified in quick order by a call to get the missing items. All staff are always smiling and like to take the time to ask how you are enjoying your stay to see if there is anything they can do for you. Housekeeping was efficient and the room was efficiently cleaned each day. The hotel is set back from the main road so while there are plenty of restaurants and bars close by the noise is not excessive while sitting outside and not heard at all in the rooms. As 2 women travelling alone a feeling of safety and security is important to us and we had no concerns at any time during our stay. Security had a visible presence both at the front gate and around the grounds. There are plenty of staff available to assist you in any way you require, including those on the front desk. While transport is available at the hotel we only used this service to return to the airport and the price was fair and the service faultless. Billing was accurate. There is an internet zone at the large open reception and while many others used this service we did not. The transport captain also has a desk in reception. Staff were more than happy to call a cab for you if you did not want to hail one on the street. The hotel also has a spa and childrens club but we used neither so I cannot comment on these. All in all a very pleasant hotel and while not five star it certainly had larger rooms than most other hotels in Bali (including many 5 star) and was clean and welcoming.Hotel Facilities

We found the suite to be excellent value for money with plenty of room and cupboard, though a set of drawers would of been handy.
The pool is a bit old and needs a good scrub around the edges. Didn't like the fact that the whole of the pools were so deep and no real area to just stand and enjoy. Nothing much you can do about that though I guess. Brekky a bit basic, muesli and baked beans would of been good. Otherwise couldn't fault the service as always prompt and with smiles.Hotel Facilities

This hotel is wonderful. Great value for money and perfect for children/family holidays. The breakfast is standard, but seriously who cares, when you can go up the road and get a great breakfast for under $3.00. It's a bit out of the way but it sits right on the beach and the grounds are lovely. It's only downfall is the staff. They are a little short with guests and are not the most helpful, but if you aren't a high maintenance guest, you can't go past the Melasti Legain.Hotel Facilities

Best thing about this Hotel is its location. There were plenty of nice restaurants near the Hotel and shopping was also easy. It is a 35 minute walk along the beach to Kuta Square and another 5 minutes to Discovery Mall. The Hotel is a bit tired and needs a spruce up, but we did have a Deluxe Room which was very spacious and was a good deal for the price. Breakfast offered everything that we needed, but why they don't let the guests make their own toast seems silly. It is made by an employee and sits there going cold. We will always stay in the Legian area.Hotel Facilities

Although the complex is a little tired looking this does not reflect the professionalism of the staff along with their very friendly nature. They were always ready for a smile or to help us any way they can. We even got a text message from the staff when we got home wishing our stay was a good one & look forward to seeing us again. The position of the hotel was fantastic as it was right on the beach which meant we didn't have to think about staying in the one position for more than what we felt like so if we wanted to go back to the pool, we did! They are currently in the middle of some restaurant renovations which should be finished by xmas 2010. The view at breakfast time from the second level of the restaurant is awesome. Not only is the view better from above but a nice breeze helps while eating their delicious eggs/fruit/noodles etc. The cottage rooms in which we stayed were plenty big enough and always clean. Keeping in mind it is only a 3 star hotel the position and layout and of the complex and friendly staff would definitely encourage me to stay their again.Hotel Facilities

Dayle from Australia stayed in a Suite for 2 days.
This was my 8th time in Bali and I usually never stay at the same place twice but I would definately stay here again - the deluxe rooms around the pool look good - we stayed in a family suite #222 and for the money it was excellant. I was not expecting too much as they have some average reviews but I was blown away. Excellent location, faclities (older style) breaky was very good most mornings...love the location - great big rooms in the family suites they are the best! Will stay again !Hotel Facilities

I don't believe the pool towels are laundered between loans.
I wrapped a pale t-shirt in a supposedly clean unused towel to squeeze excess water from the garment. Resulting in dirty stains transferred from the 'clean' towel to the garment. Went out and bought towels to use in the pool area, rather than obtain a hotel loan pool towel again!Hotel Facilities

I stayed there for 3d2n. The room is spacious and clean. Staffs are helpful and friendly but may be a little dishonest. I needed to book a transport to Ubud so I approach the front desk and ask for the rate. He told me it will cost me Rp300,000. But I know the rate should only be Rp200,000 as I have done some research on that. When I question the guy at the front desk, almost immediately he said "Rp200,000 can". Other than this incident, my stay in the hotel was great.
It is very near to the beach and the main road. The breakfast is good, there are 2 big swimming pools to choose from should you decide not to go to the beach.Hotel Facilities

If your looking for 5 star hotel, then the Melasti Beach Hotel is not for you, but if you are looking for a great down to earth place to stay at a very decent price, I'd recommend the Melati for sure, the staff are very attentive, breakfast was more than adequate, location fantastic, the gardens are lush and green, I'd have no hesitation in staying there again.

A terrific holiday - close to great restaurants and shopping - if you up to it you can walk along the beach into Kuta - a good 30 minute walk - great in the morning - bit hot though if you leave it too late.Hotel Facilities

This hotel is a bit tired. The bathroom was definitely in need of a revamp, the shower leaked over the floor every time it was used, no matter how carefully you sat the shower curtain, but the rest of the room was good, if a bit dated.Hotel Facilities

Very good family hotel. The Deluxe rooms are spacious and clean.Good value for money. Staff was friendly all the time. Rooms can be a bit noisy at times. Would recommend hotel without hesitation. The hotel appears old and tired and this is reflected in the service provided by staff. Also, the swimming pools are too deep for families and young children to play.

Room was dirty and bathroom had the most disgusting smell. Hotel grounds generally very poor...the pool sorroundings look dangerous and if I had kids, there is no way I would stay here. Staff at reception not very friendly or helpful. We actually checked out 1 day early to avoid staying at Melasti for another night.Hotel Facilities

JULIE from Australia stayed in a Cottage suite for 10 days.
Hotel is starting to get a bit tired and possibly needs refurbishment. On the whole the staff were friendly and as we were in the cottage suites the size of the rooms were excellent. We had ground floor rooms and in one of the rooms the bathroom had a funny smell but it was still OK, so would suggest you request an upstairs room. Location was good, plenty of restaurants in walking distance and the same applied for the shopping.Unfortunately the beach was disgusting with lots of rubbish washed up on the beach, and this meant that the ocean water was full of "crap". There are 3 pools although 1 seemed to be just for the rooms that were facing it. I stand at about 5ft 10in and I couldn't touch the bottom in the bigger of the two pools which I didn't like. The other pool I could stand but the water level came up to my chin, I prefer a pool with a shallow end. In both of these pools there is a section for kids but even that was too deep I thought. So if you have little kids please take floaties with you just to be safe. There are not many lounges around the pool so you had to be lucky to get one. I suggest that you take a couple of noodles for the pool as then you can float around with out too much trouble, they do have a few but not many, I think that other guests have taken them over and then left them there which is a good idea.Overall I thought the pools were too deep to really enjoy them, but I still did use them. Breaky was basic but good, nice view of the beach from this restaurant. Overall for a 3 star hotel is was good value for money and would consider this hotel again.

The hotel was rated a 3 star, which it was. The hotel needs to have an upgrade to the facilities. Grounds were kept clean and tidy, staff were friendly and more than helpful with any inquiries. Was close to shopping and restaurants. Food was a little average from the hotel. Would stay there again if the hotel was upgraded.Hotel Facilities

The Melasti Beach Resort is a large older complex with friendly staff and its location is so central to all your holiday needs. I stayed there in a superior ground floor room directly opposite the spa for 16 great days.
The facilities include a small hardly ever used gym, table tennis table, pool table, wonderful spa, 3 pools and a range of accommodation to suit from the single traveller to large group.
The food at breakfast was hearty with plenty of choices, albeit that the hot bain marie dishes were possibly from dinner the night before. The egg, toast, drinks and fruit stations offer a good variety and the restaurant overlooks the ocean. What a lovely way to start your day.
My superior room was large with plenty of storage and seating for four as well as a huge bed and equally large bathroom with both a shower stall and shower over a good size bath( I am 196cm and was able to have a reasonable bath!!!). The hot water pressure flucuated but I was always able to enjoy refreshing showers.
The superior rooms do not have a in room safe but do get a security box at reception. Dont forget to bring an additional small padlock with you.
There are numerous shops, warungs( small cafes), restaurants, spas, transport within minutes of the resort. The beach is directly opposite a small pedestrian only path that allows you to stroll either all the way to Kuta about 25 mins) or north to Seminyak and beyond.
If you want to be away from the crush of Kuta and are looking for a comfortable affordable place to spend your time in Bali then the Melasti should be a resort you consider.
I am going back in March. Cant wait!!!

Janice from Australia stayed in a Deluxe for 11 days.
The Melasti Beach Hotel is in an excellent location for shopping eating etc. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We found that the breakfast (included in our price of stay) was pretty average, but ok. The one thing we noticed from day one was that the curtins in our hotel room were not dark enough, thus waking at day break most days. I would recommend the hotel to families as it seemed to have a good family atmosphere. If you are a couple however I would probably recommend you stay at a more upmarket hotel. Having said this, it was xmas after all, a family time!!! Finally, I dont think you would be dissapointed if you were to book your next holiday at the Melasti. ps At this time of year the beach out the front is full of rubbish from the big tides!!!! The pool is the best option.Hotel Facilities

I originally booked in to a standard room but had to upgrade as they were all situated on a noisy road & were very old. The room I moved to was in the new wing that overlooked the pool. It was spacious & clean & well worth the extra money. Breakfast was included in the rate & was great! The only disappoinment was that I found the reception staff to be a bit unfriendly.Hotel Facilities
