The staff were so warm and welcoming and readily went the extra mile to address any questions or needs ranging from meals, using the computer, spa treatments to transfer request to our next location. Being off the busy downtown stretch was welcome...a very peaceful and beautiful location and environment....

We have chosen this hotel for our 40th wedding anniversary and it proved to be a correct choice as the hotel provided all we expected or this occasion. We particularly liked the "romantic dinner" arranged by the hotel on the day of our anniversary,

Spa facilities and other facilities were excellent. Shuttle into Ubud was not always at the best of times but taxi cost only USD 4. Staff were very friendly and could not do enough to please.

The Kamandalu is lovely. Located just outside of Ubud on the way toward the volcano(es), it is set among lush rice paddies. The service staff is kind, attentive, and very helpful in every way possible. Each room/villa - as best I can tell - seems to consist of a pagoda with private entrance. I believe I had the entry-level "villa" and mine consisted of a small foyer area with large pagoda-style room, and a comfortable bathroom with tub, sink, toilet and private outdoor shower. I had a lovely teak four-poster bed with mosquito netting that added to th ambiance. There's a small TV, which actually felt a bit out of place, but for those who would ant that, it was available. The grounds are lovely, carrying the rice paddy theme into the landscaping with a nice pool and large wetdeck area. The only detractions that I could think to mention would be that my room was a little worn; in its day, I'm sure it was fresh and elegant, but some of the woodworking could use a bit of refinishing. I think mine was an older unit though, and I don't doubt that the newer ones are more swank. Also if you're tall, watch your head. I'm 5' 10" (178 cm) and anyone taller could do some damage in a couple of spots - the entrance and gates to the villa and possible the bathroom. But this is not-picking. It's a lovely hotel, with exceptional hospitality, and a beautiful feel throughout.
