Shimla or ‘Queen of Hills’, a term coined by the British, is a very popular tourist destination. Offering tourists a variety of things to do and a place of immense beauty, as the nearby Himalayas form a spectacular backdrop. Forests drape the local mountains and ground with a wide variety of trees, including oak, pine and rhododendrons. The city sees temperatures reaching an average of 22’C in the summer, therefore is one of the cooler cities in India. With an incongruous mixture of Indian and and British architectural styles, Shimla offers a lot for visitors to admire around town.
