Airports

Sanganer Airport in Jaipur is the nearest facility to Sawai Madhopur, and is just a little over 130 kilometres away. Jaipur is not only the capital of Rajasthan; but is also a regional tourist hub and provides excellent ongoing connections to all places of interest to visitors. Unless your hotel is providing transfer from the airport, you will need to rely on the bus service which runs frequently from Jaipur Airport to Sawai Madhopur.

Public Transport

The Sawai Madhopur railway station is serviced from Delhi by trains Kota Janshatabadi and August Kranti Rajdhani; and from Mumbai, the Central-Jaipur Express. The roads from Agra and Jaipur are well maintained: the distance from Agra is approximately 220 kilometres, and 170 kilometres from Jaipur.

Local transport in the city is a bit limited, with auto-rickshaws, tongas (bullock- or horse-drawn vehicles) and un-metered taxis comprising the options available. Cars and jeeps are available for hire; they are particularly useful for daytrips and most always involve hiring a driver as well. Although it is possible to hire a car and drive on your own, it is highly recommended that you engage the services of a local, experienced driver, as local traffic tends to be chaotic. Additionally, driving in the hills and wilderness areas can be a problem if your vehicle breaks down. Sightseeing tours can also be arranged through travel agents, and the services of a guide are normally included.
