Airports
 

The nearest airport to Ooty is in Coimbatore which is situated 100 kilometres from the town. Coimbatore Airport is a domestic airport which maintains connections with Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calicut, Chennai, Cochin, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and New Delhi. There are however more flights from Sharjah, Chennai, Mumbai and Bangalore. The main airlines operating out of Coimbatore are Indian Airlines, Kingfisher, Air Deccan, Air Sahara and Jet Airways 

The airport currently operates a single domestic terminal, although it is undergoing redevelopment and is set to become an international facility at the end of 2009. The terminal presently in operation is small, but clean and highly presentable; offering air-conditioning, Western toilets and a small selection of shops. Transport between the airport and Coimbatore is provided predominantly by taxis. From Coimbatore, visitors can transfer to Ooty by train.

Public Transport
 

It is possible to reach Ooty by train from a number of destinations in Tamil Nadu with Mettupalayam, Coimbatore and Chennai among the towns along the main route. Regular bus services run between Ooty and Bangalore, Calicut, Coimbatore, Kanyakumari, Madurai, Mysore, Palghat, Tirupati and Trichy as well as other destinations in Kerala and Karnataka. 

Ooty is also well connected to the national road network with routes available from the majority of major towns and cities. The distance from Coimbatore is just 89kilometres while from Chennai, it is 535kilometres.
