Taj Mahal Palace & Tower is situated on the waterfront as a gracious landmark facing the Gateway of India. When the hotel opened in 1903, it had no parallel in the city, and possibly in the country. Although the hotel has seen much change, including the addition of a contemporary Tower Wing in 1973, it has retained most of its original charm and is still a favourite with its regular visitors.

I have stayed in many hotels around the world. This was the best I have ever known. Nothing was too much trouble for the consistently friendly staff who would always provide what was requested....

The location, breakfast and Taj Club facilities were fantastic. However, our room was slightly disappointing, given the price and it was also spoilt by building noise. In addition, the person who introduced us to our room didn't tell us about the Taj Club facilities that were available to us, and your website was unclear about this as well. As a consequence, we spent an evening in a bar when we could have enjoyed the complementary facilities. Whilst the gym was superb, access to it and the pool was somewhat difficult, needing to pass through an eating area, either in our swimwear or gymwear. Overall though, this hotel is certainly worth the experience if staying in Mumbai. India Gate with a full moon is a view that we will never forget! The standard room was really good - average. Nothing was particularly striking about the room. It was equipped to the usual Taj standard but there was nothing "special" to distinguish it from any other hotels in which we had stayed in India, which was a little disappointing, given the price. The service was excellent throughout the hotel, except by the person who showed us to the room who omitted to advise us of the facilities available to us for a Taj Club room. In addition, the receptionist on check out overcharged us and was quite rude, with no apology when we pointed it out to her. Unfortunately, and having waited for some time to hear the band in one of the bars, there was no band because the singer stormed off because

rooms were very poorly furnished (old and drab). Service was at best ok. The hotel was way overpriced. go for the more modern hotels with better facilities. This Hotel is not in a very good area.
