I've stayed at the Park earlier, and am OK with the fact that one gives up the prospect of a large room for the wondeful location slap bang on Park St. Over my last few visits, though, I've noticed that the quality of service, especially at the front desk, has deteriorated slightly. This may be primarily because they're perpetually swamped! There were no less than three separate functions going on while I was there, and, in a compact hotel like this, it resulted in a huge crush in the lobby area and the staircase going upto the first floor, as a consequence of which the hotel guess tend to fee...

The rooms are very well appointed. Walking in and out of the hotel is a nightmare.

I had to move rooms twice due to faulty equipment and facilities. One had to pay Rs200 extra for steam in the gym. One had to pay extra to have a coffee from the coffee machine at breakfast. Room attendants entered the room at 8am after knocking while we were still sleeping. While 2 guests were booked in the room, towels for only one guest were consistently left each morning. This is a very noisy part of Calcutta and the deluxe rooms are not soundproofed while the business suites on the upper levels are. For a 5 star establishment that charges US Dollars, we were very disappointed with the level of facilities and service. The Kenilworth in Little Russel Street appears to be better value and the Oberoi on Chowringhee is highly regarded in India itself. I would not stay here again.
