Hyderabad Airport is situated at Begumpet and is a dual terminal facility serving both domestic and international flights. In the latter category, connections are maintained with major EU cities such as London, Amsterdam and Frankfurt and major North American destinations also. Domestic connections include all major Indian cities.
The airport is too small for the volume of traffic it currently handles and hence it is set to be replaced by a newer and larger facility which will open in 2008 in the suburb of Shamshabad. Passengers unable to find connections direct to the city can fly to Delhi or Bombay and transfer by domestic flight to Hyderabad.
The current airport has basic but sufficient facilities; however, the new airport is set to include a larger and more comprehensive selection. The NT Rama Rao terminal (domestic) at the current airport has a number of shops including a florist, pearl shop, pharmacy and general store; while the Rajiv Gandhi Terminal (international) has a bookshop, florist and duty-free shop. Additionally the international terminal has an internet café, bank and ATM.
Taxis provide the best means of reaching the city and can be hired from the arrivals areas of both the domestic and international terminals. Passengers need to buy a prepaid coupon for their journey from the taxi counter before heading outside to await their cab.

Hyderabad offers a variety of means for getting around, among which are buses, moto-rickshaws and taxis. The bus service is government operated and provides good connectivity around the city with low fares and relatively punctual services. Moto-rickshaws meanwhile are the most ubiquitous modes of transport in the city and are similar to vehicles that are known as tuk-tuks in other cities. Fares are reasonable and are metered; but be wary of using any vehicle in which the meter is out of order or the driver refuses to use it.
Taxis are regular cars but cannot be hailed in the street and need to be booked by telephone or at the offices of their despatch centres. All fares are metered and cost Rs80 for the first 2 kilometres and Rs10 for every kilometre thereafter.
