Lallgarh Palace Hotel defies the bleak and rugged reality of the harsh Thar Desert around Bikaner. This palace began its life in 1896 and was named after Maharaja Ganga Singh's father, Maharaja Lall Singh. Lallgarh Palace is one of the most completely integrated examples of Indo-Saracenic architecture and the most perfectly realised of Sir S. Jacob (the architect's) creations. Here guests can enjoy royal comforts in this forbidding landscape that secrets many treasures, the hotel being one of them.

Rated #5 for all Bikaner hotels
The front desk needs English speaking staff; communication is very difficult. The hotel itself is quite lovely but too far from any transport or shopping....

Having stayed in 2007 at Lallgarh Palace, this was a repeat visit. Improvements have been made in the meantime: there is English speaking personnel now at the Reception desk, and construction is completed and noise level down. The rooms are wonderfully furnished, cleanliness is tops, and the indoor swimming pool is a bonus. However, the fact remains that the hotel is too far located from town, and if one comes without a car and driver (or bus tour), one has to hike to the main road to catch an autorikshaw ride into town; this does not feel safe in the evenings. Overall the hotel offers a pleasant, quiet stay removed from the bustle of daily Indian life.

The hotel is definitely fading from any elegance it once had. On beautiful grounds, with nice comfortable rooms, but lacking in 'nice touches'
