Bangalore is situated at the southern edge of the Deccan plains, southeast of Goa. Originally a sedate and stately city, characterised by its quiet, broad streets and lush green spaces, Bangalore has recently been transformed into a major business hub for south India and is known by some as India’s ‘Silicon Valley’.
Bangalore boasts amusements parks, a planetarium, a water park and an aquarium – all of which should be of interest to children. Bal Bhavan is one of the city’s most popular amusement parks, where youngsters can enjoy toy train rides as well as horseback rides and a children’s theatre. Meanwhile, the water park called Crazy Waters is highly-rated by kids and their families. Crazy Waters and the other water parks in the city feature slides, tunnels and pools that provide excitement and a way to cool off while having fun.
Although you will have a full plate exploring the many facets of Indian life in Bangalore and taking in the sights on regular days, there’s nothing quite like seeing the city during a special event or festival. If you can, try to schedule a visit here to coincide with something like Holi or Karanga – events that can give great insight into the culture and provide for great photos.
Bangalore and the surrounding area boast lots of interesting attractions, including palaces, temples, botanical gardens and parks. Considered by many to be one of India’s top travel destinations, the city offers up a pleasing combination of the ultra-modern and reminders of the country’s ancient roots. Cubbon Park, set in the city’s centre, features lovely gardens and shaded areas, and also a very popular amusement park; and the Labagh Botanical Gardens, located to the south, is home to an impressive collection of rare tropical plant species. The architecture of the city’s palaces and temples ranges from sleek modern to exotic ancient styles.

Bangalore International Airport (BLR) is fourth-busiest of India’s airports, and handles a significant number of domestic and international flights each day. The facility is located approximately 15kms southeast of the centre, and comprises two terminals. Terminal 1 is designated for domestic flight departures; and Terminal 2 handles domestic arrivals, as well as departures and arrivals for all international services.
