Bangalore International Airport (BLR) is fourth-busiest of India’s airports, and handles a significant number of domestic and international flights each day. The facility is located approximately 15kms southeast of the centre, and comprises two terminals. Terminal 1 is designated for domestic flight departures; and Terminal 2 handles domestic arrivals, as well as departures and arrivals for all international services.
A wide-ranging selection of restaurants and smaller eateries is provided for passengers; and there’s also a variety of shops, including duty-free outlets available. An ATM machine can be found just outside the main entrance to the airport. Parking is available in two car parks but is somewhat limited: one is reserved for auto-rickshaws and taxis; and the second is open for public parking. Passenger information is available at the KSTDC counter, which is located in Terminal 2 and open 24hrs.

Taxi service can also be pre-paid at the KSTDC counter. Taxis are the quickest way to reach the centre and service is not particularly expensive. Vehicles can transport up to four persons. Buses also link the airport with many city destinations; and final destinations in the region can be reached from the centre by bus and rail.
The surge in Bangalore’s economy and the rise in personal income has led to an increase in the number of personally owned autos in the city, and further traffic congestion. Auto-rickshaws remain a popular form of public transport, however. These three-wheeled, black-and-yellow vehicles are suitable for up to three passengers and fares are regulated by meter.
Taxi service is also readily available within the city, and is also metered, although more expensive than the auto-rickshaws. You’ll probably find taxi drivers to be more polite than the rickshaw drivers; but remember to be sure that the meter is switched on before you begin your journey.

BMTC – the city’s public bus service - operates a fleet of more than 3,000 buses, including air-conditioned buses on major routes and ‘pink buses’ that are for the exclusive use of women passengers. The metro comprises both elevated and underground trains on more than 40kms of track.
