Rated #4 for all Reykjavik hotels
The location was ideal ,away from the pubs & bars, but still within walking distance to the city centre along the walking path by the coast , quiet at night, fantastic view of the bay, & the mountains from the room, very good breakfast, which was served from 04.30hrs in the morning for guests leaving early for the airport, very friendly & helpful staff.I will have no regrets or complaints & will definitely book Hotel Cabin on my next visit to Reykjavik....

I booked a Deluxe room, but was placed in a Standard room to start with - it was very small, dingy and cramped with little storage space and the smallest bathroom imaginable. After I checked my booking with Reception I was moved to a Deluxe Room, which was just fine. There I had room to move, a well appointed bathroom, a wardrobe and a much more comfortable bed. there was also a fridge, but I had no need for that. the space was important to me as I stayed nearly a week. The food in the restaurant was ordinary - eat elsewhere. Breakfast was adequate, but nothing to write home about. The staff were very friendly and helpful - they worked very hard to help me get connected to the internet wirelessly on my mac. They also helped out with tours, booking for the airport bus and answered other questions untiringly. The hotel was well located for me, because I was attending meetings quite close by; but it's not in the heart of town. However, it's only a pleasant 15 minutes walk to the centre of Reykjavik. I thought it was overpriced, but it was average for Iceland - it's an expensive place to visit.

Opened just recently (1 May 2007). Friendly room design, but pretty small. Staff was not helpful and not obliging at all! Breakfast is o.k., but stayed completely the same choice for one week! No WIFI. Location outside city centre (30 Min walk), public transport o.k. so far for Icelandic means.
