This was our second visit to the YMCA Salisbury and we will continue to stay at this hotel on future visits to Hong Kong. The Salisbury is excellent value with its harbour view rooms. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The hotel staff are friendly and very helpful. Its location is within easy walking distance to the ferry terminals, a little further to walk to the markets however you will find the bus and underground outside the door. Laundry facilities for guests are also available....

The hotel room was resonably big, clean and comfortable. Its about 5 min walk to the MTR and nathan road shoping area. The hotel itself is going though renovation on the lobby and cafe area but it did not efect my stay. withing 3 min wlak there are chinese restaurants, indian restaurents, starbucks, seven eleven, mc donalds and banks. 5 min walk to the harbour and the spmphoney or stars.

Over all value for money, room size is big comparing to other hotels we've stayed in HK. However the lobby is really small and there's no lounge or chairs that you can sit on while my friend is checking in for us.There's also ongoing renovation in the lobby that makes the place look a little drab.Location is really good, there's a 7-11, Starbucks and Esprit outlet right at the back of the hotel.

I highly recommend this hotel. The price for a harbor view is truly spectacular, especially in expensive Hong Kong. Because of unforeseen travel difficulties, we arrived at 6 am the day we were supposed to check out (we only had a one-night reservation), but the front desk very graciously extended our check-out time from 12 noon to 6 pm, being very understanding of the situation. About my only quibble is that free wireless is not provided, but at US$136 for a harbor view of HK Island, I think this is the least of my worries. Highly recommend.

I would totally stay at this hotel again if I go to Hong Kong again. The staff was very helpful (about tourist attractions, directions, taxi) and they all could speak English. Also, the location is the best. It's at the central and near all big shopping center, the Star Ferry, Avenue of Stars, and supermarket. The only thing is that not many restaurants near by.

Me and my boyfriend booked for 3 days Partial harbour view room and received free upgrade to Harbour view as there were no available Partial Harbour View room. It came as a good news and relief as we had a bad day in the morning having to delay our flight & paying extra for change of flight time. As reviewed by other hoteltravellers, the toilet and room were small but NOT cramped. We heard occasional coughing sound or faint noises from next door which in my opinion will not affect light sleepers. House keeping have been well executed with fresh bedsheets, bath & hand towel, coffee/tea bags & creamers & fruits daily. House keepers are polite and greets you. The front desk officers are proficient in english and most of them are helpful and courteous. Something which you sometimes may not receive from a 3 stars hotel or even 4 stars. Location is excellent which is just about 10 mins walking distance from Tsim Sha Tsui MTR. Because it is not grand or posh as compared to neignouring Peninsula or Kowloon Hotel, the atmosphere feel cosier and at home. A pity the highly raved "Symphony of lights" (which you can view from Harbour View room) by Tourism Board weren't fantastic as seen in pictures and was way below my expectations. Nevertheless, waking up daily to a lively harbour and seaview and tucking into beautifully lited skyline is definitely worth the money!! (High ratings given becoz it is a 3 stars hotel and at a cheaper rate than most hotels at the same area!)

Overall, great value for money! My parents were very satisfied and thoroughly enjoyed their full harbour view room while my husband, brother and I loved our spacious family suite. You can definitely believe the room photos that are on their website because that's what they really look like. Bathrooms are a little small but sufficient. Water pressure and heat are excellent, so was the airconditioning unit. I'd agree with the other review that said lobby smelled like chlorine 24/7 and walls are on the thin side such that you can hear your neighbor if they particularly have noisy children... but those things were not a major bother for us. In a nutshell, we were very happy with our choice and were glad we didn't opt for more expensive hotels.

Perfect location near the ferry and other transport. It is worth paying extra for the Harbour view and the spectacular laser show every night. Great location, very close to Star Ferry and same view as Peninsula Hotel for much less cost. 2min walk to Nathan Road, local Restuarants, the bus drops you almost outside from the Airport and costs just $33 HK each and the MTR is 5mins walk away. Wish we had stayed for longer than 3days also had young baby and felt very safe here. From what we have heard rooms are a reasonable size for HOng Kong though in comparison to other cities may be classed as bit small. Would recommend to stay here.

We spent 2 nights here after holidaying in Europe in 4 star hotels with minute showers and small rooms. We paid the extre for a harbour view romm and had the most spectacular views - it was really worth it. The room size and bathroom were excellent, although the decore was a little dated. Easy walking distance to the ferry and train and right on the end of Nathan Road and all the shops. The cafe was basic but good for breakfast $15 AUD for coffee, 2 croissants, jucie and yoghurt.

A fantastic place to stay, we had a harbour view suite with a fantastic view. The room was clean and very comfortable. Would highly recommend the Salisbury to anyone staying in HongKong. The location was great, taxis were cheap, train was close, so travel to the ladies market/temple street markets and monkok area was not a problem. We will stay again next time we are visiting HongKong. Everything was not new but it was extremely neat and clean and well presented. perfect location. Close to the metro station and shoppping center. If you are interested in shopping check out the Esprit outlet on the "back side" of the hotel. Nice indoor swimming pool. If you do not want to eat breakfast at the hotel lots of coffee shops, bakeries and cafes close to the hotel. Harbour view rooms, not as small at the hotel mention on their web page. Possible for a family of four (small children) to stay in these rooms. Fantastic view over the harbour.

Disappointed that we could not book a full harbour view room, due to the hotel being fully booked, but our partial harbour view room did have a reasonably good outlook to the Hoing Kong Island waterfront. Our only dislike was that the room had retained the smell from people having smoked in the room previously but I believe that the Hotel now has a complete ban on smoking inside the hotel which is a very good policy which I endorse even though I am a smoker myself. The Hotel Transfer from and to the airport was excellent in both transport and value for money and took about 1 and a half hours and was a good introduction to Kowloon. The check out time is 1200 which is great and if you have a late flight the porters and front desk will look after you luggage, it is very secure so no worries, until you are ready to leave for your flight so you can have more time to do the last minute sightseeing or shopping. We ate breakfast in the Salisbury Dining Room on the 4th floor which caters for all tastes including the children. As this is Hong Kong we ate Chineese food out of the Hotel and there are many restuarants to choose from a short walk from the hotel. If you like to shop then you can easily shop until you drop in Kowloon all within walking distance from the YMCA. If you are going to HK then try and stay at the YMCA. Excellent location- just across the Salisbury Road is the HK Cultural Centre, well worth a visit, and just a few minutes stroll to the Star Ferry Terminal where you can cross the harbour and be in Central HK and get to the Peak Tram within 15 minutes and all for just a couple of dollars HK, excellent value.
Don't be put off by the YMCA name, it is not backpacking, it is 4 STAR Hotel standard. Go there and have fun at a very good price. We would certainly go again.

Travelling with a family of 5 (3 kids) it's hard to find accommodation within our budget without having to book double rooms. This was perfect for our family, aged 10 and under. Staff were very helpful and housekeeping provided a prompt and excellent service. Great location, very central, close to MTR stations, shopping, harbour. A lot of construction outside but noise kept within reasonable hours. Although clean it smelled of chlorine. IN light of the FLU problems in HK perhaps this was the reason, it just was not all that pleasant, though at least it was sterile. Easy for getting taxi's, underground trains and walking to destinations...very central locations. We run a lot and it was easy to navigate the underground to get to the harbour.

I like the big and spacious room allocated to me. The room is so clean and tidy. However, I did request for high floor and my booking was done few months ahead of my schedule but I do not understand why I am given Floor 7 when the highest floor is actually 14.
The facilities in the room are very much complete with television, hair dryer, mini fridge, safe, kettle and even fresh fruits for the 1st day. Maybe the hotel can provide even better service by providing fresh fruits for all days of stay since fruits are inexpensive and I'm sure all guests will be very happy and welcome such gestures from the hotel.
The hotel location is also very well located. Its so near the Pier, just 10 minutes of walking. The area is also surrounded by shooping centres and the MTR is also very conveniently located nearby. This gives very easy access for tourists who are taking the MTR to travel around other parts of Hong Kong.
All in all, I am very satisfied staying in this hotel.

This was our second visit to the YMCA Salisbury and we will continue to stay at this hotel on future visits to Hong Kong. The Salisbury is excellent value with its harbour view rooms. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The hotel staff are friendly and very helpful. Its location is within easy walking distance to the ferry terminals, a little further to walk to the markets however you will find the bus and underground outside the door. Laundry facilities for guests are also available.

The room is considered spacious as compared to other HK hotels. It's located at a very convenient place, near to Tsim Sha Sui MRT and the Avenue of Stars. Nice food can be found down on the streets, and shopping area too. Peninsula Plaza is just right next to the hotel which has all of the high end brands (LV, Prada, Burberry...) Helpful staffs to show me the way to the places I wanted to go. To mention, there is a housekeeper at my floor who greeted me every time she saw me, which was nice. Overall, it's a hotel worth the money to stay at.

location is the best factor when booking in this hotel. hotel is close to shopping area in TST, MTR and ferry stations. the only problem we had was we did not purchase anything in their mini bar but we were charged for a bottled water. we did see though that there is one bottle used, but were not the one who used that.. weird experience =p anyhow, everything was great in this hotel! we're definitely staying here again. :)

Our full harbour view room had the most amazing view of Hong Kong Island especially at night. We had drinks and a room service meal on our last night and tuned in to the music on the radio and watched the co-ordinated sound and music show which takes place every night at 8pm. Fantastic. The hotel was very central for Nathan Road and the Star ferry for HG isalnd and the Peak.

This hotel did family rooms, which were plenty big enough for a family of four, it is ideally placed and the room we had gave a good view across to Hong Kong island across the harbour, spectacular at night. The room was clean, plenty large enough, with a queen sized bed, which was very comfortable, the view from the room was fantastic. The staff were friendly and efficient and the cafe in the lobby was very reasonably priced and the food, while nothing special, was OK and very convenient. Perfect location for a family stay in HK. Two minutes walk from star ferry terminal and close to subway etc

This hotel is right by the star ferry terminal to Hong Kong island, as well as Nathan road in Kowloon. The metro system train station is only a hundred yards away, so this is a great cheap hotel for a trip to Hong Kong, with an excellent location

We booked a family suite for over 2 weeks. We did not get a harbour view but I think the harbour view suites a significantly smaller so overall we were happy with the room. The room was very clean . The cafe is not great but we loved the swimming pool and the book shop which has a kids play area. Overall we were very happy with our choice as it offered a spacious rest area away from the hustle of Hong Kong. Close to ferry, MTR and KCR

This hotel is in a very good position right along side the famous Peninsular Hotel and close to the MTR and Star ferry. The hotel is not so attractive from the outside and the foyer is spartan but we got a lovely spacious suite with great harbour views. Service was excellent and friendly. Breakfast in the 'canteen' offered good variety but by the time you got everything together on your tray, the food would be getting cold. Great base for a longer stay.

The price is little bit high. But the location is very accessible to public transportation. Very good central location to catch a bus, taxi, subway, ferry is just five minutes from the hotel. This hotel is in the best location and for the best price! It has the same views as the Peninsula but much cheaper. Also it is a block away from the MTR (metro) and Star Ferry so super convenient. I couldn't ask for a better place.

the food in the lower restaurant was mediocre at the best. The set dinner was of very poor quality,e.g.the meat had been cooked many hours before and was cold. The American breakfast bacon was miniscule and inedible.

Location, location, location. Literally this hotel is located in an absolutely great location, close to the star ferry, shops and markets. The staff were excellent, very helpful and quick in their service – and the breakfast we order was also fantastic quality. The hotel has all the facilities that one needs and everything is well maintained.
We selected a room with partial harbor views and we able to see the harbor light show very clearly. If we go back to Hong Kong I we would definitely go back.
Two minor issues – which did not worry me, but may others. The beds are hard and there is no bath, just a shower… but a great shower.
