Priority Check in took ages, room run down, not giving a clean feeling, dusting etc every few days, bathroom old. No hotel directory, not even on request....We were talked into an uprade and wondered where it is....it was a normal room with the cleanyness missing. Asking twice what the upgrade is compared with standard room, was told, there is no difference, only that upgrade room have been totally renovated 2 month ago!!! The old carpet and furniture did not show it. The bathroom was the same as 28 years ago at my last visit. Bath tub only for shower etc. etc. For this price, specially with extra upgrad, I expect much better. Big deal to get extra coat hangers!! No iron in room nor ironing room in hotel. We stayed 10 nights with some receptions and a wedding to attend, so had obviously more cloth. Never again. There are newer and better hotels around for the money. Bar stinking of smoke with very dated furniture. Hall carpet filthy, could see where a table was removed and a clean beige cross showed where the table legs where. hotel was in a good position to star ferry etc. shopping not so good but a few streets uptown fixed that. hawkers outside hotel day and night drove us mad. They are so persistent and wont take no for an answer. Room breakfast was good value and the pool very pleasant and a must after a big day. Closing at 9pm was a little early sometimes 10pm would be better. The bar was terrible with smoke a real problem. Men were smoking big cigars and by 9.00pm we couldnt breathe.
