3 star price but 5 star hotel~!! Very very nice! I search all the hotel web, hoteltravel.com is the lowest price. So what you wait for? Book this hotel!! I give this hotel 100% !! I live in this hotel from 22may until 26 may. 5 day 4 night. I want the non smoking room but non smoking room just have single or twin bed only - dont have double bed. So i just take smoking room, but inside the smoking room, the air doesn't have any smoking smell. Is very nice and the tv is LCD tv. The location also very nice; around the hotel there is many food you can eat, and the price is very cheap. And the tra...

The room provided is quite spacious compared to others in Hong Kong for the same price. The location : fantastic. Getting food, shopping and transportation is very convenient. This is not the first time I stayed here, I will come back for my future business trip.

Disliked:Rip-Off internet fees when many hotels are providing this as a complimentary service. The staff knocks on the door daily at around 9am of all things asking for laundryUpon checking in, unnecessarily insisted on every single guest to sign additional terms to the stay - we were traveling in a group of six.
Liked:Quiet.Location. Close to Time Square and major shops.
Clean sheets. Wouldn't say the same for carpet.

Ideal location for Causeway Bay and Times Square. Reasonably close to MTR. Very good hotel if you don't need a very large room, or harbour view.

This South Pacific Hotel in Hong Kong was right in the centre of the shopping district with very hip stores right close by, cable cars, McDonalds, Ferry's all within easy walking and cable car distance. Need to advise guests how to get from the International Airport to the hotel, ie the cheaper buses, or the train, and then how to get from the Metro in the City Center to the Hotel. i had a great deal of luggage but I underestimated the distance from the Metro stop to the actual door of the Hotel. Apart from that, excellent service all round.

We will definitely come back to stay in this hotel again when we go back to Hongkong. It's location right in the middle of Causeway Bay makes it convenient for us to do shopping, especially that it's near Times Square! The staff is very helpful and polite - that we very much appreciate. We stayed in two different rooms, one on the 11th floor and one on the 3rd floor ( after coming back from Macau ). We liked the 3rd floor rooms much better as it was newer - obvious from the bathroom and the added 'heated toilet seats' ! Overall a wonderful experience - will be recommending to others if they are going to Hongkong for a hoilday. Thanks.

First thing's first, location: As you know, location is essential when staying in HK, and the location of South Pacific was 5 minutes walk from Times Square. In all the four hotels I've stayed in in HK, this is probably the most well located. But...big but...It isn't a good hotel. Customer service is very poor. Firstly, we wanted one non smoking room, and they made a fuss out of us not requesting one online! They hesitantly gave one.Of the two rooms, they didn't have a double bed for us. Took us more than 15 minutes to check in. Secondly...the bell boy took us and our suitcases to our rooms. Being in China for so long, tipping in not a common practice, so it kind of slipped my mind. The bell boy stood there for a while, then he left. I realised why he was standing there..he wanted pocket money. Then for the rest of our stay there, we didn't see a single smile, no hello, goodbye, good morning, afternoon, evening or what not!Thirdly, we had parents with us, and their door card locked them out. So, as it was their first time in HK, we went down to help them. All information was under my name - card, address, payments. And they got a bit snotty, that we should get them to come down themselves. Yes, security wise, that makes sense. But for common sense purpose..Other notes: Room service, they opened our door - 5 seconds after only one single knock. They didn't provide all the toiletteries that were available. The room was tiny, but acceptable. Bathroom had many cracks and couldn't help but mistrust the hygeine. But one good point, the shower. It has one heck of an umph that could have flattened me on the wall! The best and most comfortable power shower I've ever used!Besides the bad service, it also wasn't good value for money as it was the most expensive hotel we paid for. So, therefore, it isn't highly recommended from us. Overall, fantastic location. But a very average - if not - below average hotel judging by our experience.

We stayed at 7th floor. There aren't enough natural light due to surrounding high raises. I believe higher floors will be better. The staff are friendly and efficiency. The room are small compare to US standard but it is average to the HK's. It is a few minutes walk to tramways (Ding Ding) and 15 minutes walk to the MTR. There are two laundrymats nearby (a hundred feet from the Hotel). It is a very good price 18 pounds for about $71 HK dollars. Same day service.

I'm a female & it was my first time staying in a hotel alone. I felt very safe there & the staff were always polite & friendly. The cleanliness of the room was always excellent, however the room size was quite small. The location was perfect, only 5 mins walk from Time Square & MTR station. Bus stops practically right outside. There are 2 7/11 shops within a minute walk as well as restaurants. Also, the Karaoke Pleace (Neway) is also only a short 5 mins walk.

The room was very dirty. The floor (fitted carpet) was plenty of hair of other people. We requested they clean the floor and seem that they do it, but the cleaness of the hotel it was awful. The location was nice. The staff was not very friendly, but was correct. You have to pay for the wire-less service. It's expensive (3€/30 min; more time it was cheaper, but I don't remember the price).

I like this hotel very much. It's very close to Causeway Bay MTR and shopping district. We stayed at the executive suite and the room was fantastic. Very clean and comfy. We only had trouble finding it the first time because we took the citybus and we don't know how to find it from the bus stop. Maybe they can give directions thru their website? Another thing, they could have is different variations of the breakfast menu at the executive lounge. But the food was clean and delicious. Overall, this is one very very good hotel.

My third stay here was almost as good as previous ones. Only problem this time was that the room I had asked for the first night was not available. But the reception made sure I got it the next night. Lulu's restaurant in the hotel is superb - setting and food as well as service. Not noisy as so many HK restaurants tend to be. The whole staff is really so very helpful all the time. I will return especially if prices remain close to what they are now.

Excellent location, near public transportation, shopping, safe area and clean. Can not ask any better for the money. If I ever go back to Hong Kong, that is where I will stay. Room a little small, but for a land short of space it was OK, Hotel rooms are only to sleep. not to play ball. The only service I used was the front desk, the personnel there was always good and ready to help. Very close to Times Square, Sogo and several other stores. Buses, street cars, taxis etc at the tip of ones hat.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the South Pacific Hotel. The staff was excellent and friendly and saw to any needs I had immediately. I was greatly impressed by them. And the room ws very modern and extremely clean, even if small. Some people in reviews have complained the beds are too hard, however I fount it perfec t in every way. Each day the room attendant did a wonderful job of cleaning and making it comfortable. The location Is perfect - only a four minute walk to Time Square Mall and MTR and a leisurely 15 minutes walk to the Star Ferry in Wanchai. I will definitely be staying there again. I recommend it most highly. Great restaurants in the area. The use of the computer in the Buisness center is very expensive unless you are staying in an executive room. If you want a very fine place to stay while in Hong Kong and don't mind being a bit far from the bustle of Kowloon or Central, this is the place to be.
Small room (Standard) but other than that it is extremely clean and comfortable.
The exercise room is small, but good to have. While there is no swimming pool, there is one within a 10 min walk from the Hotel. Great staff at the reception and concierge desk. The House Keeping staff is wonderful and very helpful as well.
The two restaurants look very good, but I did not use them while there this time.
Absolutely wonderful. I found it equivalent or better than some 5star places I have been in. Large contemporary lobby. Perfect for me - near MTR and Star Ferry in Wanchai as well as Time Square Mall. Close to MTR and Ferry, and taxis, trams and buses at the door

The room 1001 is small, but clean. The staff is very friendly and helpfull. The hotel is 10 minutes walk from Causeway Bay metro station, or 2-3 minutes from tram or bus stop. In the evening streets around hotel are very crowded, so it is difficult to go to the metro with your luggage.
The view from my hotel room was ordinary. At the right : the street, the highway, some poor apartment buildings. At the left : some poor buildings and nices green hong kong hills. At the 10 floor your can hear some street noises, mostly vibrations caused by buses.
Behind the hotel you can find fruit, fish and other meal market, in the evening the same street becomes a chinese restaurant in the open air. You can eat a good and fresh meal if you don't afraid to eat at the street. Prices are very reasonable. I did not try the hotel grill restaurant, prices are too high for hong kong, from 15 to 27 EUR. The bar on the top floor is very small and always full in the evening, so impossible to try. But the view is very nice.

We were disappointed over a few issues. first, we returned from breakfast one morning, after being gone for an hour or so, and found our room open with the maid no where to be found. she had made up our bed but apparently left our door open for anyone to come in. Luckily we were gone an hour but imagine if we had left for the day after breakfast!
We also had major problems connecting to the wireless internet service that we paid $12 for. It was supposed to be a service for 24 hours but only worked for about the first 8, and poorly at that. when we asked for help, they told us to use the business center for free, never mentioning before that was an option when we asked for internet access.
The concierge staff was helpful and friendly but the front desk reception was less than helpful with these problems.

We visited the South Pacific in February 2008 as a short stop on our way to Australia with our children, aged 12 & 10yrs. We chose the hotel guided by the reviews we read on the internet. We had decided to stay on the island after advice form people we know. If we were to return to HK with the children (which we are unlikely to do as HK is not for us!) we would probably stay in Kowloon which was much more suited to us as it was much less crowded and claustrophobic. Having said that, the location of the hotel was great - it was very easy to access the trams and to walk to shops, entertainment etc. Throughout our stay the staff were extremely polite and very helpful. We had booked an executive suite to give us a bit more room and were rather pleased on check-in to discover that this gave us access to the executive lounge which, although rather small, meant that we had a very quiet breakfast with very personal service. We could also have had free cocktails in the early evening although we didn't manage this!Another big bonus was that we also had free wireless internet in our room for our stay.As we had a late flight out we were able to leave our luggage with the concierge, and we were given use of a room to change and shower before leaving for the airport. Our only complaints with the hotel were that the gym was rather small and poorly equipped and the room carpet could have been cleaner!
Overall, I would recommend the South Pacific to anyone looking for a clean, well-run hotel

Although the hotel was generally in a good location with regards to amenities the view for the rooms was quite poor, overlooking what appeared to be rundown highrise flats.
Food in the Grill Bar was the best value/quality encountered on our 2 week stay in Hong Kong.
The only problem encountered was when the toilet stopped flushing, due to a broken tie-wrap connecting the operating handle. The problem, a two minute job, was reported at about midday but it took numerous requests after we returned to the hotel in the evening before the it was rectified at about 8.30.
The hotel was reasonably good value and we would certainly consider staying there again if we return to Hong Kong in the future.

The hotel is good in general (nice and clean facilities). The rate of the location depends on what you plan to do in Hong Kong. As a tourist, this is not the best location. You should instead look for something on either the Kowloon peninsula or the Lantau Island. The staff speaks fairly good english. You should also know that even though the subway in Hong Kong is a good transportation system, it does not cover enough areas or doesn not have enough stops, so you will end up paying for taxis anyways, unless you are ready to walk distances of up to a mile.

The South Pacific Hotel is in excellent location. You can go anywhere by public transport and there are a lot of restaurants and shopping area in walking distance. Even though the room size is quite small but in term of cleanliness it is a good choice of tourists.

Good location. Save alot of time for those who enjoy shopping. Alot of good food near by. Though the room is abit small but is not a big issue because you spend most of your activities out of the hotel.

Good location cause near to Market (abt 2min walk) & 10min walk to Time Square Shopping Center. But due to the hotel under renovation, so we need to walk from 1st to 2nd floor & take the lift to our room which not convenient.

Hotel with great location as it's within minutes of walking distance to all major transportations, including the MTR, tram, taxi, and public buses. All in all, a great hotel to stay!

We would recommend this hotel for its location and hospitality. The nearest mrt station (Causeway bay) & bus stop to Stanley Market was a 10 min walk. Food options nearby were aplenty-- a local-style food court was opposite the hotel while a myriad of fast food & fine dining international cuisines were close by. And not to forget the hotel's proximity to prime shopping areas Times sq & Causeway Bay. The hotel is also a 15min taxi ride to Ocean Park. The concierge was particularly informative, helpful and realistic when giving local sight-seeing advice & best travel options since we had a toddler. Our room was small for a family vacation (couple+1 toddler) though very clean and sufficient if just coming back to sleep. Rate wise, we accepted the fact that we were paying the peak-holiday-season price. Otherwise, we considered it pricey for bed-minus-breakfast.

The location near the Times Square MTR station and tram station is what I liked most of this hotel, it only takes 5 minutes walking to Times Square MTR Station and 2 minutes walking to the nearest tram station, and also the refurbished room and bathroom made our stay was very comfortable.
Compare to other 3 stars hotels in Hongkong, South Pacific provide larger bedroom and floor separation between non smoking and smoking room.

Room though small is neat, clean and well equipped. Staff is helpful generally. Would have been better if staff can provide more information about the area surrounding the hotel when asked where is good place to have local food. Behind the hotel are many good seafood restaurants which we did not know until the day of our departure. A Pity! Located in areas with good food and shopping. Also near to Times Square and Causeway Bay Station. Hotel just need to show short cut to MTR station as most people tend to walk in circle. There is a direct show cut to Time Square which most hotel guests will not realise when it's their first time there.

2 small negatives, only 3 lifts can be a small wait at busy times, and limited TV channels to Chinese stations and USA news stations. Overall excellent stay, very good value for money.

Room is small, clean and good value. Chargeable (HK$100 for 24 hrs) wireless broadband signal somewhat weak in the room. Location may not be very near to MTR stations but easy waliking distance. Plenty of local food outlets.

I was hesitant at first to place my booking at south pacific because I was not familiar were wanchai is. I thought it would be difficult for us to go to our exemination ctr for our nclex review. When we finally saw the place it was not that big though, but from the lobby 'til we finally saw the room, it was so clean, roomy for a standard room, with complete amenities- like blower, heater, aircon so cool & the view outside. I like also the glass windows because you get to enjoy the sunlight coming in your room. Money wise, it's so worth it and really recomendable. It was just the adaptor for our cellphone that we need to pay that i kinda dont like, but still the hotel offers you great comfort and relaxation.

Great location in Causeway Bay. Within walking distance to Times Square, MRT, etc yet not too rowdy. Tons of local shops, eateries and even a local market along the streets so you can always get food etc pretty much throughout the day. Rooms are great. Clean, neat and very comfortable. Friendly and efficient staff. They speak decent English too! For this price, I really wasn't expecting something this good :) It's slightly above my expectation. If you want great value for money at a great location, this is it! A very enjoyable stay and will definitely be back!

I like the location of the hotel, very close to shopping mall and walking distance to MRT station, there are plenty of restaurants & places to eat. The hotel is comfortable with reasonable price and staffs try to be very helpful. Room has been kept clean & tidy, room enough for two single person, not advisable for family with children. The check in & check out process is quick & easy. Good value for money.

The room of the hotel is very small, if you have young kid it will not fit in a baby cot even if the hotel is willing to supply...as the hotel is very close in the town, unless you are the lucky one that can have a room above 15 floor, it will be extremely nosy even in the early morning. Overall, consider the cost it is still value for money!

And the tram is just 30sec from the hotel - very near.
The 3rd night i live in hotel, all my expensive thing i put in my safe box.. but i forgot to lock it...when i came back...they left me a message...tell me i forgot to lock.. and all my things, my handphone, money, passpost all inside... the staff didn't take it..so this hotel is very very safe. Next time i come to hong kong, my gf say we sure will book from hoteltravel.com and book this hotel. Also the room size is bigger that other hk hotel.

The room was a good size. Room was clean, bathroom looked as it it had been recently refurbished and was reasonably clean. Staff were pleasant and efficient. Hotel is located close to the "Times Square" shopping mall between Wan Chai and Causeway Bay districts on Hong Kong island. Located close to a tram stop or Wan Chai MTR station gives easy access to other districts such as Central, Lan Kwai Fong and Sheung Wan. The hotel has a "Sky View" bar/restaurant on the 24th floor.

Hotel was being renovated, which may explain some poor ratings, but overall impression was of a reasonable budget hotel charging more than budget prices.
In particular, the room was very small though cleanliness was acceptable. Also, the hotel policy seemed to be to charge for every possible extra - e.g. a charge for use of a power adaptor, and we were quoted an excessive amount for a late checkout (which we declined). Overall the hotel was OK but very poor value for money.

As for hotel room, it was commodious than I expected however the room smelled of smoke. It gave me a bad headache ,so I asked for the air cleaner to the front desk however they charged me only HK$13.50 (About U.S.$2) for 6 days!!! This hotel is located in the middle of the city and there are so much fun to see, go, and eat around there!!!! You may get to the Times Square approx. 5 – 10 min. by walk from this hotel and around the Times Square, there are so many shops and restaurants. As for transportation, MTR (Subway) station--10 – 15 min. by walk, City Bus Stop-- everywhere, Air Port Bus--15 min. by walk. It’s kind of “Convenient”. My favorite transportation was ferry. I went on that ferry to get to Kawloon side all the time. Just take city bus (2X, 8X etc..) about 5 min. to get to the ferry pier. This hotel’s location is great to explore “Wan Chai” city.

This hotel should improve its noise level between rooms. Walls are abviously not insulated and allow to follow next door conversations! Rooms are smallish but acceptable for local Hong Kong standards. The restaurant offers a superb (lunch) buffet which is really value for money! Rocommended. Wireless internet service gives very weak signal in the room and is quite expensive. Many competetors offer this service for free. So, if you use internet a lot, be prepared to pay a price.....

Excellent location. The hotel is located right in the center of Wanchai, which is a very convenient and exciting neighborhood. The hotel is within walking distance of the tram on Henessey Road, which is the quickest, most economical (2 HK$) and most enjoyable way to travel to Central Hong Kong Island. The hotel is also reasonably close to the Wanchai and Causeway Bay MTR stations. The hotel is tastefully decorated (unlike many other hideous hotels in Hong Kong), clean and well-kept. The staff is very attentive. The room I had was much larger than the typical Hong Kong hotel room. If you stay at this hotel, be sure to spend some time exploring the Wanchai neighborhood, which has many interesting food shops and restaurants, particularly on Wachai Road. (Keep away from Times Square - it's overcrowded.) Overall, this was by far the best hotel I've stayed in, while travelling to Hong Kong. I highly recommend it, and look forward to returning.
