I loved the fact that the tram stop was so conveniently located infront of the hotel! Plus there's lots of good food around the area along with local non-tourist centric shops to explore!...

We've got in last at night, the taxi driver had a hard time to find the place since it's all one-way. But the location is okay, there are buses and eletric cars in front of the hotel. The reception at the front desk is okay, but the female employee who has arranged us kindof roll her eyes at us which is not very nice. The room is very spacious and nice, more than what we've expected. The only thing that you need to think twice would be the shower room. I am only 40KG and it's really small. I doubt a 40 year old mid aged man could turn around. The concierge people were also very nice.

Spacious room, reasonable rate. It was quite crowded with Chinese tourists this
trip but probably because it was Chinese New Year holidays. There was only one
little problem with the air con in the room which was still so cold although it was on 25C. Anyhow, I still find it a good place to stay in term of value and convenience.

The room was very small for three people, all the beds touched and took up the whole of the room. They were also very hard. The hotel is not central, but does have the advantage of the tram stop right outside the front door. However, I did not trust the staff as my wife's wallet was stolen in the hotel on the first day and we believe it was by a member of staff. It was 'found' in the hotel grounds later that day with all the money missing.

Spacious rooms and friendly hotel staff. Traffic is slightly inconvenient for some first time
visitors but if you know the way, there are trams and buses stations nearby. Otherwise, this
is the best hotel specially for Asian tourists who like to shop for local stuff such as dried mushroom, scallop and many others. Last but not the least, hotel rate is very reasonable.
Will definitely stay here in my next visit.

hotel provides free shuttle bus to MTR and ferry terminal and tramp is just outside the hotel, thus is very convienient to travel around. There are also 'cafes' which provide cheap and nice food within walking distance. However, the hotel is situated along the roadside, therefore it might be slightly noisy due to the traffic. Overall, i still find it is a good place to stay ya!

The absolute best feature of this hotel for sightseeing tourists was the tram stop directly outside. The Sheung Wan area is very much a "locals" area - interesting to walk around but not one of the "sights" of Hong Kong. The hotel itself provided us with a good sized, clean, well equipped room but the decor made it a dark and depressing space. We did not eat "in house" but we did experience the bar! The staff could not have done more to accommodate us but again the decor made it a dark, depressing sojurn.I suppose one gets what one pays for but we did discover we could have been in a more central and BRIGHTER location for very little more money.

The facilities at the Ramada Hong Kong may not be the best - the breakfast buffet leaves a lot to be desired, the gym facilities are rather poor and the MTV Club bar is rather spartan - but the positives make these issues of little importance. I suppose it depends on what you expect to use the hotel for and your needs whilst in Hong Kong.
I find the hotel location excellent. Situated in a quiet part of the island (which feels safe even at night) there are no bars and the associated nightlife noise, drunks or annoying 'bar girls' that you can expect in areas like Wan Chai. However, if this is what you like, there are excellent transport links - with a tram stop outside the hotel front door and regular bus services to all parts of the island. Although taxis cannot stop directly outside the front door, they will drop you off by the small side entrance on Water Street and pass by the hotel regularly enough for journeys to other districts.
The A12 airport bus (approx HKD45 for a 30 minute trip) picks up on the opposite side of the street and drops off on the main road close to the hotel. This saves both time, inconvenience and money if travelling without too many bags. There is a 50% discount on a same day return trip if using an Octopus card. The hotel offers a shuttle bus to Central Harbour area.
There are plenty of small convenience stores within a minutes walk for simple needs and enough cheap, basic cafes to compensate for the rather dull hotel breakfast (which is not incuded in the room rate anyway and will cost extra).
The rooms are superb! Clean and well furnished, they are relatively well sized in comparison with other hotels in Hong Kong. They smell fresh and certain floors are entirely non-smoking. The housekeeping is of a good standard without being intrusive. A telephone call can provide any extras (e.g. an iron for those creased clothes) that are not already in the room. There are plenty of towels and they are regularly changed. Those who like to soak in a bath will be disappointed as there is only a shower cubical in the room.
The front desk staff are excellent, helpful and speak good english. They do not keep you waiting too long (even when busy) and will answer any questions. There is a small tour agent in the lobby (although I cannot comment on the service or prices as I did not use it) and the hotel will also look after your bags - useful if you have a late flight. The hotel has three computer terminals which can provide internet access by buying a passcard from the reception.
I have never seen any children at the hotel or young teens/adults and would not recommend it for a family stay as there are no facilities to cater for these. I would consider this hotel more suitable for thiose who prefer a quiet location and are not afraid to explore using public transport.
Well sized by Hong Kong standards, but still rather small when compared to american, or european, sizes. Clean, fresh and well furnished. The gym, bar and breakfast buffet were all of a rather poor standard, but this was not an issue as other facilities were either nearby, or within a short distance. Helpful and efficient staff. Front desk, porters and housekeeping were all of a good standard.
The hotel breakfast was poor and the MTV Club bar was limited, but all the usual convenience stores and cafes were within a minutes walk from the hotel.
I would not recommend this hotel to families with children or young single adults. Excellent hotel and location for older singles/couples who are independant and willing to explore by foot or, using public transport. Short term business professionals will enjoy the quiet, peaceful atmosphere, but may become frustrated with the limited facilities. Located in a quite district of Hong Kong island with excellent transport links to other areas. Buses, trams, taxis, shuttle bus - excellent. No bars nearby!

The hotel is good but the location is a bit off the tourist path and a bit out of the way of everything else. The district improves a lot when you walk north up the hill. Count on taking transportation out of the area before touring. We were upgraded from a standard room to a junior suite so we had a lot more space than we expected. The hotel is new and the furnishings are new. The breakfast room had no windows and the food was not as good as other hotels. The Chinese resterant was good for dimsum lunch. The front desk was okay but the front doors open to a busy street with no place to get on to taxis and the door man is not around most of the time. Breakfast was average or below. Chinese resterant was okay. Rooms and common areas were kept clean. Internet service is expensive and cannot be ordered from the room. Have to go to front desk to get a card. The connection is slow for broadband. Hotel is located in a non tourist area and need to take public transportation to get out of the area. The tram stops in front of the hotel. Bus to the airport is close by. Taxis are hard to get and get off because the front of the hotel is a no stopping zone.

The location of the hotel is at the western part of Sheung Wan on Hong Kong island. It is not close to any MTR station however it is just around 5mins to Sheung Wan MTR and 10mins to Hong Kong MTR which will cost you around 20 to 30HKD respectively. A plus point is that there is a tram stop right in front of the hotel coming from Causeway Bay. From the hotel please cross to the opposite tram station that will take you to the eastern part of the island. The hotel shuttle will bring you to the IFC(where HK MTR and Airport Express line is) where you can take the star ferry to Kowloon, prior to that it will also alight you at the Macau ferry terminal(where Shun Tak Centre and Sheung Wan MTR is) where you can get the ferry tickets and board the ferry to Macao. The room is not that big but there are room for baggage and shopping bags. The location is quiet so you should not expect much noises. There aren't any entertainment spots around but you can find some good food (dinner and morning Dim Sum) at the Chinese restaurant beside the hotel. The room is clean and no smell at all, I was staying 2 nights at a smoking floor checking out to stay over 1 night in Macao and back for another 2 nights in HK at a non smoking floor instead. The hotel allow you to leave your baggage with them for 1 night however they will charge 5HKD for every piece of baggage, I guess it is the same for other hotels. Overall, the service of this hotel is good and will be back again :)

we've been upgraded to suit room, it was big compare to most hotel rooms I stayed in HK, esp for the price...
the staffs over there are nice and friendly, they can provide us helpful info for us to save our time and money...
near to tram which is cheapest transportation in HK, a bit far away from MTR. but overall it's OK for vacation. a bit far away from MTR station, but tram station is just outside of the hotel... and A12 to airport is just oppsite of the hotel, it takes 30-40 mins to reach airport, value for money...
near A12, tram station, spacious room in HK, near local seafood market, it's interesting... it's worthy to stay...

We book two standard rooms. Our children were given the standard room as booked while my husband and I were given an upgrade to a suite with partial sea view, may be because we requested for a double bed and to be on the same floor as our children. We found the rooms size and amenities reasonable. When we saw the shower case we thought "wow", but later found out that it is indeed just a shower case.
The hotel has a free shuttle to the ferry terminal as well as the MTR Hong Kong stop. In addition, the tram stop is in front of the hotel, so travelling to others parts of Hong Kong is really made easy. Travelling time on the tram may be a while if you want to go to area like Causeway Bay , if you are in no hurry by all means take a ride on the tram for only HKD2.
However there is one incident - The receptionist that assisted in our check-in asked for an imprint of my husband's credit card for purpose of deposit for incidentals, which is a standard hotel procedure alright. But I noticed that she also took a photocopy of the front and back of the card, and upon our query the other guy gave the photocopy back to us. Just before our travel, I have had to cancel a credit card which has been used by someone for purchase of airline ticket over the internet. So I was very wary of our credit card details being taken without our authorisation.
Other than this incident, our stay at this hotel is okay, it is clean and it did fit our budget.

I have no complaints about Ramada Hotel itself, which is fairly new and everything in my room was in working order. I had no drainage problems with the shower stall and I detected no strange odours, unlike previous reviewers' feedback on the Ramada. The room is small and faced blocks of old apartments i.e. no fabulous harbour views enjoyed by other HotelTravel guests who were upgraded to suites. The pillows were flat and had obviously seen better days but housekeeping responded swiftly to my request for additional pillows so I could have a comfortable rest. Due to the small size of the room, the aircon was freezing even though I set the thermostat to its highest temperature setting, so I just switched off the aircon.
The tram is cheap and convenient, and the weekday shuttle service to the IFC Mall leaves punctually as scheduled. The latter offers a more comfortable ride but you have to be at the lobby five minutes to the hour or half past to secure a seat. I recommend the Ramada HK for those who need a stopover in Hong Kong enroute to/from Macau. The Hotel is only a five minute HKD16 taxi ride from Shun Tak Centre where the Hong Kong-Macau hydrofoil plys at 15 minute intervals. On weekends when there is no hotel shuttle service to the Airport Express Station and IFC Mall, it is better to take the Airbus A10 or A12 to the Airport from the bus stop diagonally opposite the Ramada along Water Street. This costs only HKD40 vis-a-vis HKD100 for a single trip on the Airport E

A good value hotel, the noise from the traffic was still discernable at night even on the 17th floor but the hotel is on the main tram line and HK is permanently busy. They kindly upgraded us to a harbour view for free although the view is partially blocked by a couple of high risers.
Staff very friendly. If you like a firm bed you can't get them much firmer than here, my back hasn't felt as good for a long time. It is a bit of a way from central but you can easily catch the tram or for about £3 you can get a taxi.

I booked this hotel a week ago and asked for a non- smoking room via your travel agency. We arrivedt the hotel quite late and got a smoking room, the hotel said that they didn't get any special request from your agency about the non- smoking room. I don't know what's wrong with the communication. But after I insisted to have a non-smoking room, the hotel up graded our room and we finally got a nonsmoking room. I think this reaction from the side of the hotel is fast and excellent but the communication between your travel agency and the hotel needs some improvements.

My one night stay at the hotel was very pleasent except for the SMELL in the room. I don't know if it was stall cigarette smoke or what but it was over powering and terrible. I complained and was offered another room but that room was too small so I stayed with the room and the terrible smell. when I returned home to the US my wife commented that the clothing in my suitcase had a terrible smel to them and thus washed everything prior to hanging them in the closet. I travel to Asia primarily the Philippines 4 times a year for the past 23 years and this is the first time that I have encountered such a terrible odor in a hotel room. I do not smoke so perhaps I am a bit sensitive to the smell but I don't recall being asked if I wanted a smoking room which I would have responded that I didn't.
I also don't know what the criteria causes a hotel to be rated 4 stars but this hotel even without the smell in the room would be perhaps a 2.5 or tops 3 star.

Although it is located in the remote side of central, but going to the central district is very conventient by riding thru the tram. Too bad we only stayed for 1 night. Our room was upgraded to the executive floor and had a killer 360 view of HK. I emailed the hotel and this site that we were arriving late and we didnt have trouble checking in. I had to take an important exam in HK and would only be finished at around 2PM, 2 hours from the normal check-out time but the staff didnt have a problem with that. They even allowed us to leave our bags as we toured HK for awhile. I definitely recommend this hotel.

I paid USD 67/night and I thought this was a really great deal for what a got: a very clean and comfortable and spacious room, nice bathroom (although the shower was a bit small), and very helpful staff (especially the concierge). The location could be better, but the hotel is about a HKD25 ride to the HKG Train Station/IFC. All in all, I would do it all again and stay at the Ramada.

What really impressed me was the cleanliness of the room, though not so spacious, it's so presentable and well-maintained. The location is just perfect for me. We've had very good experience in this hotel. The place is close to public transport. They have a shuttle that leaves every 30 minutes that will take you to a Ferry Terminal and to Hongkong MTR Station. The staffs are very friendly and speaks good english. We arrived at the hotel quite late at about 9pm. As all standard rooms which we initially booked for were full, they gave us a free upgrade to a suite, albeit on a smoking floor. (Note that there are only 4 floors of non smoking rooms out of 28 floors.) Except for the cigarette odours, the suite room was surprisingly spacious for a HK hotel room.
Next day, we managed to keep the free upgrade and got transferred up to a suite room on a non smoking floor. Although the odour was not there, the ventilation of the room was terrible. The air conditioning must have ill functioned or some other issues. The room was humid as the hottest day in Taiwan! The problem must also been made worse, as it rained heavily that day.
The location, although close to central on HK Island, is not readily accessible by MTR. Also, remember that the hotel provides a free shuttle bus service to Airport Express Station in Central. Staff working at Airport Express would tell you there is no service provided by them. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay. It was a grest value for money: a suite room stay for HK$500 per night.

I did have a pleasant experience with the hotel staff, who had kindly granted me the wireless internet connection during my stay. This was a great gesture from the hotel staff extended to me due to problem with extracting the IP address during log-in, though I have purchased a HK$40 pre-paid card for one-time usage of 3 hours. Thank you and I am able to contact my business associates and wih usage beyong 3 hours..

The hotel rooms were somewhat small and so was the bathroom. Beds were not comfortable, they were actually quite hard. Overall experience was okay.

I enjoyed three-night stay in August 2006. I recommend this hotel if you are accustomed to taking bus or tram because there is no stop in a walking distance.
Advantage of this hotel is spacious room with noise-proof from neighboring room
Disadvantage of this hotel is narrow shower room without bathtub. A $20 taxi ride to downtown or free shuttle bus once an hour. In short, I believe that this hotel is the best value-for-money hotel, as stated in other customer’s comment section. Kunio Imamura, Japan

Hotel Ramada was fine, only in the room we received there was not enough light. And during breakfeast people can smoke, which is terrible for other guests and the staff as well.

This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel and am still very happy with the hotel and the staff. I had to stay an extra night and could not use HotelTravel.com to purchase the 5th night and had to use the Ramada site - the cost was much more. Worth staying here, yes!

What struck me most was the promptness with which housekeeping service responded to all our needs. They were exceptionally courteous and accomodating. It wass difficult to communicate with one male staff though who had very limited ability to communicate in English. But overall, our stay was excellent. The people behind the information desk were also very nice, and went out of their way to help.

I have seen other reviews of this hotel...yes, it is a little bit out of the way...however, the tram is right out the door and for 2$HK you can go almost anywhere from one end of HK island to the other...if you are a little adventerous...this is the hotel for you...they even upgraded me to a larger room...one of the biggest I have ever had in HK...this hotel is the best value for the money...only downside...they sell cards to give you internet access...40$HK for 3hours...this is very expensive...otherwise...great hotel...I highly recommend

I stayed here for 2 nights and am very happy with the hotel and the service. The staff were very nice and helpful and I was given a superior room which was very nice. Surprised there was no bathtub but... Still worth staying here. The location is West not Central but in a good area. a 3.5 star hotel in my opinion.
Travel in Hong Kong is easy so don't let the location scare you.

Service wast Great, Room was nice, Staff was friendly,
NEVER eat or use the COFFE SHOP ripoff $10 US per cup = they smile while they steal from you. I would stay here again, the price is fair, location is ok, staff is great (thanks for recovering my luggage).

The location of the hotel is a little far off Central, but the tram stops just in front of the hotel. As I had been 12 years before living in HGK getting around was no problem. On arrival i got a nice upgrade to suite room. The staff was very helpful when ever you needed them. Beside the location, the rooms are a very good value for money. This is a good hotel if you only need a room to stay, no pool no restaurant. The only Chinese restaurant in the building ist operated by a other company. Not even near Central. One more station and you reach the end of the tram line. Not easy to get a taxi. The subway is a 10 minute tram ride away. If you look for a good room to stay this was very good value, but forget about harbour view or even any view...

The room was very spacious. It is clean and comfortable. Not easy to find a such big room in Hong Kong at such price. The location is very good as it is in front of main road with large buses, small buses and trains. By the way, just found out after arrive the hotel that there is free shuttle from the hotel to Airport Express. Excellent value for money. Will definitely recommend to all traveller.

Price was good by HK standards, but location was very downmarket, so all in all, it was fair value. Des Voeux Road West is not nearly as nice as Des Voeux Road proper.

Tram stops right outside but otherwise a poor location. No bars or restaurants nearby and nothing else to do in the neighbourhood. The hotel had no decent bar. I definitely would not go back to this hotel.

My travel was for business, I could not invite any business associates into hotel, as ambience was not there for in-house food and beverage facilities. However, I must understand that the hotel building is in operation for only 06 months. I hope the F & B facilities will improve as it matures along. The other services however, was more than good, especially the Concierge.

I thought that the hotel room was adequately furnished, but the bathroom was definately below par. When the shower was used it leaked water onto the floor of the bathroom, which apart from anything else was dangerous. The location of the Hotel was not brilliant and the standard of English amoungst the staff was also not too good. It wasn't the most expensive hotel to stay at, so I guess you get what you pay for
