We requested a room with a double bed, which resulted in a room of a lower standard, but still good. The City Garden Hotel's pool only enjoys around two and three quarters sunshine a day, owing to the skyscrapers all around, but everything in the hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff are very helpful and friendly.North Point is some way from the centre of town which is a nuisence, but to have somewhere more central would have been more expensive.Nothing negative about this hotel, I would recommend it.

The hotel was very good, but the area it was located in was not as nice as I was expecting. Breakfast was good. Room was very big and had everything - the only thing was I felt that the bathroom part could have been a bit bigger. Staff were helpful and corteous. Check in went very well. I used their internet which was located in a business section. It was expensive pro rata for 30 minutes which was the length I took and I was annoyed when I was told time was up after 20 minutes even when I questioned it. Everything else was fine and there was a good bit of a buzz in the hotel. Thank you.

We arrived at 10am in the morning and the hotel was able to check us in. When leaving, because of our flight schedule, the hotel was able to do late check out at 6pm in the evening. I enjoyed staying with them.

We arrived early (before 1pm), however the reception staff was friendly enough to let us have early check-in. Only the manners of few of the bellboys need to be improved. We waited about 1hr for room clean up, but it was okay as it was peak season (new year weak) and there are many restaurants & shops in the surrounding area for us to spend tme wth. The room was nice and spacious. Hotel location is excellent, only about 3-4 mins walk to Fortess Hill MTR station which only few stops away from Central & Causway Bay. We enjoyed our stay at City Garden, will definitely stay here again!

Everything was excellent especially the front desk and housekeeping staff went beyond our expetations to ensure our stay was more than we could ever asked for. Have requested for a higher and non-smoking floor and received complimantry upgrade to Business room. Only 2 min walk to Trams and MTR. complimantry bus service Time square and HK Station. Excellent value for Money and would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to budget travellers. Rated 4 Star but much better than some of the 5 Star I have stayed in Australia.

This was our second stay in this hotel. This is a great hotel. Hoteltravel.com gave the best price for our each stay. The first stay we reserved was US$77 per night and our 2nd stay which was exactly a year later was US$85 per night. i was unable to find these rate thru other website. They renovated the hotel rooms. we think the rate we got is very cheap for this hotel because it is in a good location with easy access to all transportation. I hope hoteltravel.com can still offer this attractive prices in the future. On our 2nd night we found out that our old clothes placed near the trash can was accidentally thrown away (bec the housekeeping thought it was garbage), we complained and the manager of the hotel offered us breakfast buffet to compensate us. We told them that we wake up 11am everyday and can't eat their breakfast buffet which end at 1030am. So he offered us lunch buffet. I would love ti stay in this hotel again if i can secure these rates again.

Have stayed here when in HK almost exclusively for the last 5 years. Only downside is increasing number of mainland Chinese tourists staying here, which increases secondhand smoke in non-smoking areas, etc.

Stay at this hotel 3-4 times per year. Large rooms, plenty of food nearby, 10 minutes to MTR (underground), taxis usually readily available. Executive rooms are upper floors and have safe in room. Wireless internet not best strenght, but LAN cables available in all rooms. New Chinese restaurant in hotel and coffee shop has good breakfast buffet. All in all, after 30 stays or so, no complaints except that internet is additional charge.

The English skills of the staff was pleasing. The executive room we booked was quiet and the bathroom for Hong Kong quite big - nice for families. What was a bit annoying - the stuff should be more flexible due to the wishes of their customers. The hotel f.e. offers cable TV in the Pup and in the executive business center. But in none of them my husband could watch what he planned to watch. In the Pup he was not allowed to take our 8 year old son and in the business center they were not willing to switch the program - although nobody else was there in that time. And consider - the hotel is 2 MTR stations away from the Causway Shopping and Restaurant Area. In walking distance to the hotel are not really interesting Shops and Restaurants. If you don't mind, the hotel is worth the money, because of there location the rooms are not that expensive. The rooms are clean and the room service is good. The beds are comfortable, the bathroom not the small, executive rooms provide inroom safe. check in area a bit cold, tour and information desk to small, outdoor swimming pool ok but nothing special - not a lot of deck chairs. We had to remind the staff at the checkin counter that we booked a non smoking executive room - they wanted to give us a smoking room. The hotel offers a Coffee, a Restaurant and a Pup. If you have questions - you will find somebody here to answer this. For families with children - poor indeed. MTR is easy to use in Hong Kong - even if you are there for the first time. not that far away but you need to use Taxi or MTR to go to a Restaurant f.e. Taxis are plenty available, walking distance to MTR 5 min.

Have stayed here more than a dozen times because: cost/quality ratio, away from tourist areas, good food at reasonable prices nearby, close to MTR and 'ding ding' (tram), never any problem with staff, 2 blocks off main street so air less polluted. VERY nice large rooms, a rarity in HK. Executive rooms have desk, plenty of room, standard sized closets, not like some that have the postage stamp sized everything. Nice pool, bar o.k. with evening singers, concierge on duty all day. Some floors do not have safes, so ask before you check in. Ask for a room away from the lift, otherwise your headboard will be 6" from the elevator shaft. Ask for room looking north toward Kowloon. The typical overpriced breakfast buffet, food is o.k. The Chinese restaurant is under renovation (April '08). Typical filthy carpets (they supply single use slippers, otherwise bring your own). Cleanings are cursory, as expected, but not as bad as some in HK. Business center on 25th (top) floor. A few computer terminals. They charge for everything but breathing, of course, in the Hong Kong style. This is where I stay when I am in Hong Kong pretty much 100% of the time and I'm there approximately 4 times per year from USA. On City Garden Road, which is two blocks from shopping area in North Point. Nobody will bother you to purchase a 'copy watch' or 'fake Fendi' bag. 8 minutes from hotel to MTR, 3 minutes to tram. Never a taxi wait more than a few minutes. MTR from door to train is about 8 minutes. 'Ding ding' (tram) is no more than 3 minutes. Bus to airport if you want to avoid the Airport Express station.

Great hotel, close to transportation. We stayed for a week and enjoyed every minute of it. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The staff were pleasant, helpful and efficiant. The food was very good. I will stay here again when I return to Hong Kong. The executive room was clean spacious and nicely decorated. The hotel had everything you could ask for and the staff kept the facilities in A1 condition. While the staff very not over friendly, they were pleasant and very competant. Anything we asked for was delivered to us quickly and efficiently. The fortress hill station was very close and made it easy to get to anywhere in the city. While I enjoyed the Garden Cafe, the pub was a bit bare for my taste. Saying that, the staff were efficient and pleasant. There were taxis always outside the door or nearby and the subway and buses were nearby. The room was cleaned everyday to a high level. The lobby was spotless and immaculate. The staff had all the tourist information and were very helpful. A band played in the bar every night and while they were good, they were not to my taste. I enjoyed the clean pool very much. The outside of the hotel was very clean and well kept.

The hotel is conveniently located to shops, eateries and public transportation. The staff was friendly and helpful with top-grade service. Good-sized bedroom with clean, well-lit bathroom on top floor. Same-day laundry facility was excellent although lack of iron in room was a hassle. Universal electric adapter included in room. Within minutes walk to shops, food outlets and public transport (MTR, bus, tram).

We were given extra bed at no extra cost. We were also given an end-room which is bigger than other room.Hoteltravel gives special rate for this hotel which i didn't found on other websie. hotel is not very expensive considering the location. It's a 5-10 minutes tram to causeway bay. 2 laundry shop very near the hotel. Lots of restaurant nearby. 7-11, k store (24hrs) watsons also nearby for your convenience. not so crowded area unlike mongkok, causeway bay. Fortress hill mtr station also nearby. Lots of Bus station in King's road. Hotel offers shuttle bus service to certain areas. i will definitely recomend this hotel and will stay here again and again whenever i go to hk.

I had a problem with strong cigarette smoke smell in the early morning from the air-conditioning/ventilation. This occured on the first two mornings of our three days stay. The smell was sufficiently strong enough to result in a headaches for us. On the third morning, I had the air-conditioning turned off until during the night and the problem did not re-occur. Otherwise, the ccommodation was quite good.

I had a pleasant stay here. My room was upgraded and for the money I paid I think it is good value. The room is newer than I expected but the soap container in the bathroom was broken and not fixed when we moved in. It dropped on the husband's foot and got hurt (not seriously though). I rang the household service up and the assistant manger immediately came to apologise. The service is quite efficient and we appreciate it. I will definitely stay here again if the rate is good.

To nearest accesible MTR is the Fotress Hill which is 10 mins walk. There is nothing much to offer surrounding the hotel. No complains on the room.In deciding to stay at this hotel, be prepared to travel on taxi and MTR. This is the best rate I could get in Hong Kong as all the other places are more expensive as it is nearer to place of interest.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights, the standard execuitve room for us is very suitable. The 16th floor we lived is quiet and clean, and waiters there were very friendly and helpful. But there is a little pity that we wasted almost an hour for check-in since they haven't finished there room-cleaning before 14:00. Anyway I will stay here if I visit HK next time!

The service staff is extremely courteous and responsive, particularly in booking transport and assistance with luggage. While the execuitve room we stayed in is modern and relaxing, several stains in the carpet were noticable, so as the unusally high pitch of plumbing noise when the toilet was flushed. Having said that, the overall experience, while not outstanding, is acceptable.

The housekeeping staff was very friendly & hospitable. I had requested that my mail be delivered to the hotel so that I could get it when I arrive, the hotel agreed to keep my mail for me. The A11 bus from & to the airport is only 2 & 5-min walk to/from the hotel, respectively. The hotel was only a 5-minute walk away from mtr station fortress hill. Once you reach the mtr, almost all places you want to go to are very accessible. Public transport like the tram & the buses are a 2-min walk from the hotel. There were a lot of places to eat around the hotel, from affordable sidewalk stalls to regular restaurants. Don't be deceived by the looks of the stalls, they may look ordinary, but the food was great. Free late check-out was even available, maybe beacuase of the season.

Great value, and conveniently located next to all amenities and tram/subway/bus lines. Room sizes are larger than most for Hong Kong, and cleanliness was excellent. However the room was overhyped, and did not come with a City view (more like a view of other buildings) and the rooftop swimming pool is instead a 2nd floor, rooftop swimming pool.

With the amount of hotels to choose from in Hong Kong, I would rate this one as average in location, price etc. What I would caution anyone who wishes to stay at this hotel is, get everything promised in writing. Things that are included with your room like meals, executive level amenities, or discounts, should all be in writing/e-mail. This hotel does not communicate well between departments and you end up having to prove to them that you should not be billed for these items promised. Language barriers make it challenging.

Location is awesome, low cost food nearby is plentiful, hotel has nice pool, bar. About 4 minutes walk or less to the MTR and tram (ding ding). Main coffee shop closed in March '06 for renovation, not sure when it re-opens. Rooms not the cleanest, but not a 'deal breaker'. Usually has good price, especially for room size. Business centre, charge for internet in room. Some wireless networks within range and that worked well for me. Try to get a 'park' side view. Many people practicing Qigong or Taichi in the morning in the park.

The room I stayed in was spacious, neat and well-equipped with all the amenities a traveller would need. Despite the fact that my room was on a smoking level, there was not a single trace of stench at all! Hotel facilities were good and well-maintained. The only thing I would wish for is the extension of operating hours of the swimming pool, sauna and fitness centre. Overall an excellent choice for both the leisure and business traveller.

I found the professionalism and friendly service shown by the staff manning the business centre one of the best that I have experienced. The service desk staff were efficient but could be a tad more welcoming - bearing in mind that guests arriving may have had a long flight and so could be tired. However, I did find them more friendly when I was checking out. Staff at the bar were fantastic on every evening that I spent there. The music was ok but I think most people there did not mind the at times woeful singing. On the whole, the cleanliness of the room and facilities were impressive, and the hotel became a haven at the end of a long day. Now if the local council could clean up the surrounding streets, particularly from the rail station to the hotel, that would make staying at the City Garden Hotel a lot more desirable.

I had a very short but pleasant stay at the City Garden Hotel. A typical city hotel - not luxurious, but very comfortable and clean. Bathroom was small, but clean. For the price I paid, it was really good value for money!! The surroundings/location gave me a sense of security. Didn't get to use any of the facilities all that much, but whatever little I did, was excellent. The staff were courteous and effecient. All in all, I was impressed. If I need to stay in that part of HK again, I would definitely revisit this hotel.

The concierge was the best thing in this hotel. The room was nice, but the concierge answered all my questions, got me a local map, and a taxi and told the taxi driver where to go for me. It helped me a lot.

What I liked most is the cozy environment close to the park but for shopping mostly in Kowloon side is inconvenience because the MTR fare from HK to Kowloon is much expensive.
