My stay at the Charter House was a thoroughly pleasant experience in every way! The concierge,Peter, speaks very good English and went above and beyond the call of duty to assist me in severeral ways. He physically escorted me to the bank/Atm to insure my safety, arranged my flight to Qingdao, had the air ticket delivered to the hotel for me and arranged my taxi to the embassy to get my visa and later to the airport. The front desk people were cordial and eager to assist in every way and before I left the manager greeted me and chatted with me in a very friendly rather than business like manner. I have already suggested to one of my friends that will be traveling through Hong Kong in March to stay at the Charterhouse and will continue suggesting it as a great hotel option in Hong Kong.

The hotel was at a convenient location to hennessy road where the tram, buses and taxi are abundant. However, it may be a short walk to Times Square 6-8 mins( need to cross 2 small streets ), one must be prepared to walk another 10 mins to get to the mtr train. ( Even thou the entrance/exit of the MTR station is directly linked to Times Square, the underground walk to reach the trains is rather long.) But it is no doubt a very well-located hotel with 7-11 just a few doors away and dim sum restaurant a street ahead. I have no idea about the conditions of their other rooms eg. standard, superior,deluxe cos I upgraded to their S signature room. It was well decorated and much bigger than wat i expected, contemporary in design with an L-shaped writing table, open concept wardrobe area , small pantry. The bathroom was fantastic with double bowl vanity and I loved the rain shower, the size of the shower cubicle was big which can easily fit 2 adults comfortably. Being a designer myself, I think its rather worth the money for the details they took into consideration.There were Bedside lamps which can be adjusted when reading, bath robes and bedroom slippers for two. The LCD Tv was a good size and the bed was comfortable. I was rather irritated with the yellow window film they had on the window panels as it makes the whole room very yellowish in the day. No choice but to bear with it till evening. I suggest that they shd remove it. I also realised that the room I was given is the bigg

a conveniently located low budget hotel on Hong Kong Island for the short stay traveller. Good public transport facilities nearby and located within walking distance to attractions like the convention centre, the Star Ferry to Kowloon, the noon time gun and Victoria Park; even to downton and the Peak Tram. One think I like the hotel is its closeness to a famous mall, the Time Square. The TV set is too old, it shall have more channels especially the satellite channelsl.The room rate is very reasonable, considering this is HK.Staff are friendly and speaks English well.

Nice hotel with very friendly staff and good facilities. Arrived early with no problems for a early checkin and was given room at 11th floor facing away from the street. It was a nice decent sized room appr. 5*4 meter with twin beds and a tiled bathroom. The service was without faults and I will return next CNY. Mir is about 5 min walk away and also star ferriers about the same, bus/tram 1 min for mail line and Wan Chai area i well worth the stay A+++ as we say on ebay

Airport public transport access is not convenient as hotel is about 12-minute walk from either Wanchai or Causeway Bay MTR stations. It's fine when you are not lugging your suitcase along as the hotel location is very central for sightseeing, shopping and eating. Concierge and Security personnel are very experienced and helpful. Reception Desk did not allocate non-smoking room as per booking request until I grumbled.

I asked for a Queen-size bed when I placed my reservation but I was given 2 single beds. Room was cramp and the decor looked dated. Mini Bar was not replenished and the drawers were dusty. They informed that they couldn't give me another room as reservations were full during the period of my stay. Was disappointed with this.
Lobby was clean and well litted.
10 mins walk to Wan Chai Station. 15 mins walk to Times Square and Causeway Bay. What more can you ask for?

The hotel offers a nice, quiet and clean place to stay with friendly staff and a reasonable price.
The hotel is located next to Causeway Bay – a famous shopping district. There are so many department stores, shops. You just need a lot of time and money there. The big problem for me was to pick a restaurant for my next meal as too many to choose. The hotel is surrounded by the public transports; bus, tram (still HK$2 since my last visit 2 years ago), MRT. It make easy for you to access everywhere in H.K. In the addition, a traditional market is just one block away, you can buy some fresh fruit at a very cheap price.
The hotel charges HK$100 for up to a 3 hours internet usage, I couldn’t use it as I just need a few minutes to check my email. It was the only disappointment I had during my visit. Otherwise, I were totally satisfied with the quality of the service and had a very enjoyable time there.
If you are a budget traveller, but you are also looking a decent place in H.K Island to have an enjoyable time, this hotel is for you.

don't go to the concierge, they are not good! my parents asked them how to go to the Ocean Park, and the only answer they told was "taking a taxi"! I can't believe this is the attitude from such a 3 star hotel which doesn't care for their own customer at all! Meanwhile, I wanted to book a king-size bed for my parents for that night of their wedding anniversary, however, no matter how many times that I have confirmed for this request, in final, the hotel still just offered a twin-beds room for my parents--what was that for than? different beds?! If you look for clean and not so expensive hotel, I recomend this place. Room is small but design is nice. Also location is pretty good. Even if hotel is located by the street, any noise didn't "reached" my room.

After many stays at the Charterhouse this was a shock. A dirty mouldy bathroom awaited us, with a stained and apparently unwashed blanket on a very small and uncomfortable bed. The fridge didn't work, and the TV had very little reception either. After complaining, we were given a worse room, with all the same problems as the last, and an airconditioner that sounded like a large car. This room was also so much closer to the road below, so we could not open the window. The 'business center' was a couple of old computers hidden down a service corridor behind reception. The Staff were very friendly, but any requst seemed to be too confusing for them to achieve without some delay. The dicounted room rate Hoteltravel.com got for us was excellent, however I would hate to think that any other hotel would give such a low class, dirty room to make up for the price difference. That will be my last stay at the Charterhouse, and hope to have a better result next time I book a room with you.

Overall the hotel was very good. There was one problem when using the Champs Sports Bar, which is in the basement. I went there to watch a world cup match and even though the bar was fairly empty and I was a hotel resident, I had to pay a steep cover charge. Basically they had set out their rules and gave no flexibility ... not really fair for a resident.

The room is very small. We have 2 people in one room and we felt crowded but that didn't really bother us since we were in a great location and not to mention the great deal we got here. It’s close to the MTR station, the marketplace, Sogo, Time Square and the many good restaurants around. The other thing I have to say is that the toilet doesn't flush very well. You can not beat this price for a hotel in HK...it is convenient in Wan Chai area and less than 10 minute walk to MTR...I lived in HK years ago and have since stayed in a dozen or more hotels...this is by far the best value for the money. Could I find something to complain about? Of course... but the room I had (#918) was clean, quiet and the a/c worked. The hotel staff were friendly as well. I didn't turn on the t.v. and if you're in HK why in the world would you be in your room other than to sleep...Good job Charterhouse!

When I found this rate I could not believe what a great deal it was. I was worried it was too good to be true. I have stayed at this hotel before, so I knew what the normal price there was (once you add in the tax the normal price they quote you will cost double what this website charges for the exact same room). I was very relieved when I showed up at the hotel and my room was waiting for me no problem. I came back again a week later after my meetings in China with another hoteltravel.com reservation too. I will definitely use this website every time I travel to Hong Kong, its the best deal out there.
As far as the hotel goes, I knew what to expect, so I wasn't surprised, the rooms are clean and have everything you need, albeit a bit small for two people. Also its not super convenient to the Hong Kong subway, but there is a bus stop literally 5 steps out the front door. My only big complaint was the TV. its old and small and the reception on many of the channels is pretty

The hotel was neat and clean and close to the local bus and tram lines. The hotel was about a 10 minute walk to the Wan Chai MTR Station. The service in the Hotel was good however it was in line with what I would expect from a 3 star hotel. The Hotel is located off the main local roads and was fairly quiet at night.

I find Charterhouse to be a great hotel for a relatively low price in the centre of Hong Kong. I can truly recommend it to anybody.

I would like them to improve the entertainment program as they have some sort of restriction to the TV channel and it is better to have the preferrable one. Easy access to the business area and center of the city.

There are restaurants, minimart and markets near the hotel. The room is quite small and tv program is not so interesting. The HK convention is far to walk from the hotel. There is a free shuttle service from the hotel to HK convention but it is only one time in the morning and must be booked in advance. Taxi is very convinient. Housekeeping staff is very nice. overall this hotel is good.

The hotel looks old. Room size is ok but the furnishings are old and depressing. It could do with a new coat of paint, carpet, etc. The rooms should all be made non-smoking. The non-smoking room that I had still had the stench of tobacco. Staffs are helpful and friendly in general. It might not be situated in the best area in HongKong but the location is convenient.
