Guam is the largest island of the Marianas archipelago. Popular with Japanese tourists and American Navy, the island is cosmopolitan and energetic. The capital, Hagåtña, has an array of historic Spanish buildings, while just up the coast is Tumon Bay, the main tourist centre. Guam has sun, sand and wilderness, although the real draw for tourists who come here is the fabulous duty-free shopping.
