Corfu International Airport (Corfu Ioannis Kapodistrias) is just a few kilometres outside of Corfu Town and is the main gateway to the island. Flights come in direct from many European centres to its single terminal, mainly with charter carriers, while Olympic Airways and Aegean Airways are the main Greek scheduled airlines.
Facilities at the airport are good and include money services, shops, and a café-bar. Most visitors arrive on package holidays with airport transfers thrown in and simply meet up with their travel representative to be allocated their coach. If you have booked independently, public buses serve Corfu Town and the main resorts, and taxis are readily available.

There is no rail option on Corfu, but the public bus network is good and well priced. Buses are dark-blue for Corfu Town, while green KTEL buses run to points island-wide. Making use of taxis is the better option over buses and is often your only option if you are in a remote beach area. Ensure the driver uses the meter.
The best way to get about Corfu is to hire a car. The roads here are generally very winding, but the island isn’t that big and there are some fabulous areas off the beaten path to check out. Major car hire companies are represented at Corfu Airport and you can book ahead online.

Moped/scooter hire is also popular on Corfu, but don’t be tempted if you’ve never ridden before and always wear a helmet and full clothing. Corfu is a little hilly for riding bicycles but they are ideal for getting about your resort or Corfu Town. Bikes can generally be rented from kiosks in Corfu Town and from hotels. Speedboat hire is also possible and you don’t need a license.
