Situated on the banks of the River Elbe, not far inland from the North Sea coast, Hamburg is Germany's largest and most important northern city. Almost entirely flattened by WWII bombs, Hamburg luckily retains lots of traditional charm lying side-by-side with modernity and boasts many impressive buildings in the form of churches and interesting museums.
Located to the northwest of Hamburg Klovensteen is part of the stunning Rantzau Forest and it offers lots of leisure activities for the whole family. Popular among these is pony riding and there are some picturesque trails in the area as well as some medium hikes. There are also herds of deer here.
Judo Otto World Cup: the annual judo cup, at Hamburg's Alsterdorfer Sporthalle, is one of the main German martial arts events and is a must for those into fighting.
See the Port of Hamburg. Take a position above St Pauli Landundgsbrücken to discern the enormity of the carriers and freighters in this massive harbour. At the same time why not check out some of the history of the place at the 1896 windjammer Rickmer Rickmers museum and restaurant, and the Cap San Diego.
The Lower Saxony region of Germany is beautiful and touring it by hire car can be a wonderful experience, with numerous picturesque villages and towns that are not all that far from Hamburg city. Car hire in Hamburg is best done ahead of time online, where you can have your vehicle waiting for you at the airport or at your hotel through major car rental companies.
Hamburg is a clean and safe large city, but, as with anywhere, keep your wits about you and especially at night. Places to be most aware of are Monckebergstrasse, the Reeperbahn and around the central Hauptbahnhof train station where pickpockets are more likely to be.

This month's lucky winner is Mr. Laith Addabbas who lives in Jordan.
