The most southern part of Germany is host to 2 towns that were combined back in 1935 for the 1936 winter Olympics. Tourists flock here for the fabled annual ski jump held on New Years Day as part of the Four Hills tournament. Not only do people come here for the ski events and to ski, they also come here to enjoy the quaintness of the conjoined town. The historic architecture has been kept, the beautiful frescoes – centuries old wall paintings – decorating many old buildings.
