The capital of the North Rhine-Westphalia state, Dusseldorf is an established tourist destination that has been luring visitors for several decades, using its interesting sightseeing attractions, plethora of cultural venues, excellent shopping areas, lively festivals and vibrant nightlife as its chief draw cards. With easy access from across Europe and from some transatlantic destinations also, it's not difficult to see why Dusseldorf boasts such impressive tourist figures.
Grafenberger Forest offers some simple trails for riders who don't like things too challenging; however, if you want something a touch trickier, then you'll need to stick your bike in the boot of a hire car and drive for an hour or so to the Eifel region, where some much more advanced trails are available.
New Year’s Day: Dusseldorf’s residents celebrate the beginning of the New Year in the same style as the rest of the country. After sleeping off the excesses of the previous night, people enjoy quiet family meals or get-togethers with friends.
Hailed as one of the most lavish boulevards in the world, Konigsallee is notable for its modern landscaping and architecture, which immediately endow it with a hi-so ambience. Reinforcing this feeling are the up-market shops, boutiques, restaurants and hotels, which are frequented by affluent locals but are equally as welcoming of visitors of all backgrounds.
The city has a comprehensive selection of public transportation options, including metros, trains and buses. Visitors can take advantage of the 'Dusseldorf Welcome Card', which gives unlimited travel for 24 hours on some modes of public transport as well as various other entitlements. Cards can be bought from major hotels and from the Dusseldorf Tourist Association.
Germans are fairly reserved and formal characters for the most part but among friends a more relaxed approach to communication is enjoyed. Introductions between strangers are observed with a handshake and the appropriate greeting for the time of day (guten morgen, guten tag or guten abend for good morning/day/evening respectively). Titles are important (Herr for a man, Frau for a woman) and used until such a time as any party indicates otherwise.

This month's lucky winner is Mr. Laith Addabbas who lives in Jordan.
