Tours has its own international airport, the Tours Val de Loire Airport, located about five miles (eight kilometres) from the city centre. The airport maintains scheduled connections with London, Dublin and Figari and chartered connections with Budapest, Bulgaria, Crete and Morocco. Alternatively, visitors can fly into Paris Charles de Gaulle, an airport with a significantly greater number of connections and the major gateway to the country.

Tours Airport has ATMs and bureau de change facilities as well as an information desk, public telephones, a restaurant and a lounge. Parking spaces for both short and long periods are available in the airport car park.

As the busiest airport in the country, Paris Charles de Gaulle offers a more extensive selection of facilities, with all the basics covered plus a large array of dining and shopping outlets, business facilities, internet access, VIP lounges and more.
Tours is well connected to the rest of the country by the national road network, and visitors arriving by car ferry from Caen can reach the city via Alencon and Le Mans by taking the A28, A11 and A85 motorways. From Paris, it’s an hour’s drive along via autoroute.

The TGV train from Paris is a popular travel option, with the journey taking about 1 hour, 30 minutes only. Alternatively, travellers can take the bus from Paris or other major cities.
Once in the city, visitors will find the local bus service provides the primary means of transportation. Bus tickets are valid for a one-hour period from purchase. It is also possible to walk or cycle around the old district, which is not suitable for touring by car.

A hire car is a good option both for reaching the city and for getting around during your stay. Car hire facilities are available at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport and at most major cities across the country.
