Situated in an idyllic spot in the south of France, on the coast overlooking the Mediterranean Sea is Toulon, a very popular tourist destination. The largest most southern harbour brings in fresh sea food daily to the abundance of restaurants, also the harbour is also home to the French Navy. Being a busy port over the past 1500 years, one can see the different cultures that have occupied the region, with fantastically preserved forts and churches. Most of the history is located in Old Town, where one can walk along old narrow streets and small squares. Many museums adorn the area, and should not be missed. Visiting the market in the morning in the Old Town can be fun, where you can buy many items from food to clothes and trinkets. The town also is home to many unique high quality hotels infusing the historic architecture with mod-cons inside. Something can be found for everyone in this town, including keeping the kids occupied. Visiting vineyards or relaxing on the beach in the warm sun, you cannot be bored in this town.
