Visitors planning to travel to Saint Malo by air have two airports to choose from. The nearest airport is situated in the outlying suburb of Dinard and offers flights to and from the UK. This single-terminal airport also serves a few domestic routes and offers limited facilities for passengers. Visitors can reach Saint Malo by hire car or taxi from the airport.

A larger airport is situated roughly 45 miles (72kms) away in the French city of Rennes. Saint-Jaques International Airport is serviced by the following carriers: Aer Lingus, Air France, Airlinair, Flybe and Iberia Airlines. Routes link Rennes to several regional capitals across France as well as to multiple destinations across the United Kingdom. Saint Malo can be reached from Rennes via a 45-minute drive by hire car.

Saint Malo is well-connected via public transport to many major French destinations as well by ferry across the English Channel to coastal cities in southern UK. In addition to France’s excellent network of high-speed train and bus routes, car hire is also an excellent means of exploring the countryside.
TGV high-speed trains frequently depart for the regional transportation hub at Rennes. Beyond this there are a few daily, direct routes to and from Paris’ Gare de Montparnasse. Ferries to the UK connect Saint Malo with Guernsey, Jersey, Poole, Portsmouth and Weymouth.
The historic city centre is small enough to traverse on foot, while buses ply major routes until nightfall. There is also a tourist train that operates in the walled old city.
